An inclusion compound, which comprises a cyclodextrin or a branched cyclodextrin and a vanillyl alcohol derivative represented by the following formula (I) having been included therein: wherein, R represents a C1-6 alkyl group; and a composition containing the same. The inclusion compound exhibits remarkably reduce impure taste of VE and heightens its water solubility and stability. The inclusion compound considerably enhances and prolongs the pungent taste and warm-feeling imparting effect of VE per se and further increase and prolong the cool or refresh-feeling heightening effect of VE per se when used in combination with a refrigerant.

The present invention relates to a fragrance delivery system for use in laundry detergent compositions including rinse-added and dryer-added fabric conditioning compositions which provides a long lasting “freshness” or “clean” scent to fabric. The compositions described herein deliver highly fabric substantive linear acetal and/or ketal pro-fragrances to the fabric surface during laundering wherein the pro-fragrances release their fragrance raw materials over a period of up to two weeks. The present invention also relates a method for delivering a pleasurable scent to fabric which has a lasting freshness quality by contacting the fabric with a laundry detergent composition which comprises the fragrance-releasable pro-fragrances.

.alpha.-Glycosyl hesperidin, a novel hesperidin derivative wherein equimolar or more D-glucose residues are bound to hesperidin via the .alpha.-bond, is formed by a saccharide-transferring enzyme in a liquid containing hesperidin and .alpha.-glucosyl saccharide. The .alpha.-glycosyl hesperidin is easily recovered from the reaction mixture with a synthetic macroporous resin. .alpha.-Glycosyl hesperidin is superior in water-solubility, substantially tasteless and odorless, free of toxicity, and readily hydrolyzable in vivo into hesperidin and D-glucose to exhibit the physiological activity inherent to hesperidin. Thus, .alpha.-glycosyl hesperidin is favorably usable in vitamin P-enriching agents, foods, beverages, tobaccos, foods, pet foods, pharmaceuticals for susceptive diseases, cosmetics and plastics.

A starch hydrolysate composition is particularly suited for use as a sequesterer, i.e., it readily interacts noncovalently with other molecules to form stable inclusion complexes which are useful in a variety of applications. The starch molecules in the composition which act as sequesterers are in the form of single helical inclusion complexes with starch molecules having a D.P. of about 10 to 200 and a weight-average D.P. of about 10 to 50 as the host molecule holding one or more guest molecules within their internal cavities. These hydrolysates are prepared by first converting amylopectin molecules from the double helix form to the single helix form and then by cleaving chain segments from the molecules.
