摘要: Techniques for determining an attachment stability of leadless pacing device (LPD) implanted within a patient are described. For example, the LPD may detect one or more stability metrics from one or more electrodes of the LPD and/or an activity sensor within the LPD. Based on one or more of these stability metrics, e.g., a mechanical motion of the LPD, a stability module within the LPD may determine the attachment stability of the LPD within the patient. If the attachment stability is insufficient to provide efficacious therapy or indicates at least partial dislodgement of the LPD from tissue, the LPD may wirelessly transmit stability information to an external device. In some examples, the LPD may be implanted within a chamber of the heart.

摘要: A cardiac harness adapted to fit generally around a least a portion of a heart includes at least one elastic spring member forming an annular portion that is elastically deformable and at least one sensor disposed on the annular portion for providing a sensor signal representative of cardiac function. The cardiac harness applies a compressive force on the heart during diastole and systole. The sensor is configured to take a measurement of impedance across the heart, impedance across a lung, evoked response of the heart, activation patterns of the heart, acceleration of a portion of the heart, position of a portion of the heart relative to an ultrasonic transmitter, pH on the heart's epicardial surface, blood oxygen saturation of a portion of the heart, or position of a portion of the heart relative to a magnetic field generating device. The cardiac harness and sensor are delivered and implanted on the heart by minimally invasive access.

摘要: A system for treating heart valve malfunction specifically including mitral regurgitation including a positioning structure operative to assume both expanded and contracted orientations and a retaining assembly positioned and structured to operatively dispose the positioning structure in moveably supporting lifting and/or positioning relation to the ventricular wall portion of the heart. The retaining assembly and the positioning structure are cooperatively disposed and structured to accomplish a shape variance of the heart upon a lifting or positioning force being exerted thereon substantially concurrent to the positioning structure being disposed in the expanded orientation. The force exerted on the heart at least partially defines a shape variance thereof to the extent of positioning of the leaflets of the mitral valve into a closed orientation which restricts mitral regurgitation.

摘要: An electrode assembly for temporary cardioversion/defibrillation and/or for temporary stimulation of the heart after open heart surgery consisting of two defibrillation electrodes with at least one indifferent pole each and an elastic section is disclosed. Each defibrillation electrode in the operating position is positioned on the right and left atrium. The defibrillation electrodes each distally comprise a fixation member and each end in a protective tube to protect the epicardium at a proximal end. The fixation members are elastic and enable reversible fastening of the defibrillation electrodes in the pericardium on the right and left side. The protective tubes are preferably fed together into a guide tube, where the guide tube is slidable along the longitudinal axis. The stimulation electrodes (different electrode poles) for stimulation of the atria are designed appropriately together with the defibrillation electrode in one piece.
