    摘要: A method and apparatus for connecting a metal lid to a metal body of a container to seal any product held by the container. The container is formed from a generally cylindrical metal body having an upper edge and a metal lid having a peripheral edge. The metal lid is held in position on the metal body so that the upper edge portion of the metal body and the peripheral edge of the metal lid form a contiguous junction. A beam of laser energy is directed toward the contiguous junction for sufficient time to hermetically seal the lid to the body. A single roll-formed lip provides a smooth finish to the combined body and lid. The lid includes a circumferentially continuous recess surrounding a central planar portion of the lid. The recess is located adjacent the peripheral edge while the peripheral edge is situated at or below the plane defined by the central planar portion, thereby reducing the material required to form a sealed container of any given volume.

    摘要: An antenna resonating element may be mounted in an antenna cavity. The antenna resonating element may have a printed circuit board substrate with a patterned metal layer. Components may be soldered to the antenna resonating element using solder with a given melting point before soldering the antenna resonating element the antenna cavity using solder with a lower melting point. Solder widow openings may be formed in the antenna resonating element and antenna cavity to allow for application of solder paste. Engagement features and alignment structures may be used to align the antenna resonating element relative to the antenna cavity. The antenna cavity may have a curved opening. The printed circuit board substrate may be bent to the shape of the curved opening before soldering components to the printed circuit board. An elastomeric fixture may be used to hold the antenna resonating element to the cavity during soldering.

    摘要: A method for metallurgically joining a tube to a member. A tube having a flange is obtained, and a member is obtained. A welding/brazing electrode wheel is obtained having an axis of rotation and having a rim. The tube and the member are positioned with the flange contacting the member directly and/or indirectly through an intervening welding/brazing joining material. The rim of the electrode wheel is positioned in direct contact with the flange. A resistance welding/brazing current path is created through the flange and the member using at least the electrode wheel creating a seam weld/braze zone which includes at least some of the flange and at least some of the member. During the current path creation step, the electrode wheel is rotated about the axis of rotation.

    摘要: A method for joining a tube to a member. A tube having a flange is obtained, and a member is obtained. The tube and the member are positioned with the flange contacting the member either directly or indirectly through an intervening joining material. The tube and/or the member are locally heated proximate the contact of the flange and the member without substantially heating the tube and/or the member apart from proximate the contact of the flange and the member. In one example, the local heating is welding, with or without a filler material, such as resistance welding, laser-beam welding or electron-beam welding. In another example, the local heating is brazing. In an additional example, a curable adhesive joining material is placed on the flange and/or the member, wherein the adhesive is located between and directly contacts the flange and the member, and wherein the local heating cures the adhesive.
