摘要: A method for finishing a film cooled article includes providing a film cooled article including at least one inner cooling plenum and at least one opening connecting the inner cooling plenum to an exterior surface of the film cooled article, positioning a machining element in contact with the exterior surface of the film cooled article, automatically moving the machining element along the exterior surface while maintaining contact between the machining tool and the surface, identifying an actual position of at least one film opening based on sensory feedback from the machining element using a controller, removing material from the exterior surface at the at least one film opening using the machining element, thereby creating a depression at the at least one film opening.

摘要: A method for manufacturing a component of a rotary machine, the component extends in an axial direction and a radial direction vertical thereto, and has an inner channel, extending from a first end in a center of the component to a second end at a radial limiting surface of the component and which is partially closed. A blank includes the center of the component and is limited by an outer surface in the radial direction. The maximum dimension of the outer surface in the radial direction is smaller than the dimension of the limiting surface in the radial direction, A first subtractive process step is performed such that a part of the channel is manufactured by a machining process, with the part extending from the first end of the channel to the outer surface of the blank. Afterwards the channel is finished by a build-up process on the blank.

This turbine blade machining method, in which a through-hole is machined in a turbine blade with a protective film formed on a surface of a substrate, has: an insertion step of inserting a machining tool, including a grinding region provided at a tip thereof, into the through-hole with such an orientation that the grinding region faces the surface of the through-hole; and a removal step of grinding the protective film laminated in the through-hole with the grinding region of the machining tool inserted into the through-hole, to remove the protective film laminated in the through-hole.

The method including (i) providing a supply of test fluid, (ii) causing or permitting flow of test fluid to occur from first to second region, (iii) illuminating the second region with electromagnetic radiation to cause scattering of electromagnetic radiation by material exiting substantially non-blocked through-holes in wall portion having passed therethrough from the first to second side, (iv) detecting said scattering of electromagnetic radiation from said substantially non-blocked through-holes; and (v) comparing said detected scattering of electromagnetic radiation from said substantially non-blocked holes with known pattern of through-holes in component wall portion to determine the presence and/or location and/or identity of any blocked or partially blocked through-holes in component wall portion.

摘要: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for repairing components. A material layer may be deposited on a surface of a component. The material layer may cover a cooling hole. A pulsed heat source may heat the component and the material layer. An infrared camera may take a series of images of the component. A location of the cooling hole may be identified based on thermal properties of the component. A removal tool may remove a portion of the material layer in order to expose the cooling hole.

摘要: A system for forming a passage in an airfoil includes a liquid-jet guided laser that generates a laser beam confined within a fluid column, and a purge medium supply that is fluidly coupled to an aperture of the airfoil. A purge medium flows from the purge medium supply in a flow direction that is substantially parallel to an inner surface of the inner cavity. A controller is configured to direct the liquid-jet guided laser to cut a first passage through the outer surface. A centerline of the passage forms an acute angle with respect to the purge medium flow direction. The first passage is formed at a first radial position that is radially distal to the aperture. A method for forming passages in an airfoil using the system described herein is also disclosed.

摘要: A method for coating a component is provided. The coating method includes providing a component having at least one aperture with an aperture geometry formed in a surface thereof, positioning a filler material within the at least one aperture, the filler material extending away from the surface of the component a distance greater than a reduced coating thickness and less than an applied coating thickness, applying at least one coating over the surface of the component and the filler material to form an applied coating having the applied coating thickness, removing a portion of the applied coating to provide the reduced coating thickness and expose the filler material, and removing the filler material to extend the at least one aperture having the aperture geometry through the applied coating. Another coating method and a template for use with the coating methods are also provided.
