    摘要: Method for cooling flat plastic products, in which plasticized plastic compound is fed to a calender via a slot nozzle by means of an extruder and is rolled and calibrated to the desired shape in this calender between at least two smoothing rolls, after which the film or sheet produced in this way is fed to a chill section comprising a plurality of adjustable rolls and passes through this section until it is sufficiently cool and dimensionally stable, at least both the gap width between the rolls and the speed of the rolls being controllable by open- and/or closed-loop control.The degree of wrap of the flat plastic product around the respective roll is varied by adjusting the rolls in the chill section into a mutually offset arrangement, hence increasing or minimizing the cooling capacity.

    摘要: A method of preparing a thermoplastic polycarbonate film having an optical retardation value of less than or equal to 20 nm, is described. The method includes: (a) forming a molten extrudate (20) of a thermoplastic polycarbonate polymer in an extruder (11) having a terminal die (17) through which the molten extrudate is passed, the molten extrudate having a temperature of 150° C. to 400° C. upon emerging from terminal die (17); and (b) passing molten extrudate (20), from die (17), between two counter-rotating rolls (23 and 26) each having an elastomeric polymer surface (35 and 38), the counter-rotating rolls having a roll speed ratio and a nip (41), the distance between the terminal die (17) and the nip (41) being a die-nip distance (47). The extrudate temperature, the roll speed ratio and the die-nip distance (47) are each selected such that a thermoplastic polycarbonate film (32) having an optical retardation value of less than or equal to 20 nm is formed.

    摘要: In a method of checking the insulating sheath on a wire or cable leaving an extruder, the external diameter of the insulating sheath is continuously determined over the whole circumference by means of a first measuring apparatus and the wall thickness of the insulation is continuously detected over the whole circumference by means of a second measuring apparatus. The measured values are supplied to a computer which, inter alia, continuously determines the difference between the maximum and minimum wall thicknesses found (W.sub.max -W.sub.min). Eccentricity and minimum wall thickness of the sheath are calculated from this difference and from the measured external diameter of the insulation and the diameter of the conductor of the wire or cable, and are indicated in a display device. The measurement is thus rendered largely independent of fluctuations in sensitivity of the measuring apparatus for the wall thickness of the insulation. An apparatus for carrying out the method comprises the respective measuring apparatus and a computer for effecting the required calculations.
