    摘要: Shaped terminations for composite tension members, as well as methods for creating such shaped terminations. A shaped termination is consolidated into a solid mass that is substantially uniform in structure. Heat and pressure are used to shape and fuse the carbon fiber composite into geometries having favorable loading characteristics. This durably fixes the components of the tension member into an optimized arrangement for the intended loading configuration such that unequal stresses are minimized. Terminal geometry can be formed by re-forming existing material, or by adding additional material, which can comprise a thermoplastic composite material or other epoxy/resin composite, metal, tow, tape, mat, or other fibers, to the inside or outside of the tension member. The terminal may be machined and/or thermoformed before and/or after the addition of material.

    摘要: The invention is basically a method of connecting two pieces of material with a molded object in between them. This method is basically done by a mold in which the material can be inserted within. In the preferred embodiment, the applicant is creating a frame in which all four corners are molded. In this embodiment the framing material forming the sides is inserted into the corner molds. The plastic then is injected or put in the molds. When the plastic hardens and the materials taken out of the molds, one has a frame in which the four corners have been molded and the framing pieces are securely attached to the four corners. In the preferred embodiment, to more securely attach the corner pieces to the molded corner, the framing material forming the sides has predrilled openings. This forms a more secure attachment between the molding corner and the material forming the sides of the frame.

    摘要: In a connection between round composite fiber rods or pipes positioned at an angle to one another there are provided angular connecting elements of which the angle corresponds to the angle between the rods to be connected, fiber helical windings in the region of the vertices of the angular connecting elements, respective arms of the connecting elements being arranged to be inserted in the rod or pipe ends. The angular connecting elements are fastened positively on a rod and/or rest frictionally in the rod ends. The fiber helical windings wrap around the angular connecting elements in their angled portions and connect them to one another. Fillers and/or adhesives fill the cavities which are formed at the rod or pipe ends.

    摘要: A rod connection arrangement includes a connection element for connecting a cylindrical reinforcing rod to a cylindrical main rod, with the reinforcing rod extending at an angle to the axis of the main rods. Each rod respectively consists of a core of compression material surrounded by a fiber composite wall having fabric layers with fibers that cross at an angle. The connection element consists of an arcuate body having a central axis and an inner surface with a radius substantially equal to an outer radius of the main rod. The arcuate body preferably extends over an arc of less than 360 degrees. The connection element further consists of an integrally formed joint plate projecting radially outwardly from an outer surface of the arcuate body. The joint plate is preferably formed by two layers of a fabric material imbedded in a rein matrix wherein fibers of the fabric layers cross at an angle of substantially .+-.45 degrees. The fabric layers extend from the joint plate onto the arcuate body to form the outer surface thereof. The inner surface of the arcuate body is secured with an adhesive to the outer surface of the main rod. The reinforcing rod further includes a compression resistant reinforcement inserted into one end thereof and further has an axially symmetrical slit formed in the end thereof, the slit being received over the joint. The slit end of the reinforcing rod is secured to the joint plate with an adhesive.

    摘要: A framework is formed from a plurality of thin-walled, round composite fiber rods having a pressure-resistant foam core and walls. The walls include at least one layer of axially parallel fibers. The framework is constructed from strut rods, transverse rods and joint plates which are operative for connecting the strut rods to the transverse rods. The joint plates are formed from a composite fiber material. Axially parallel recesses are provided in the walls of the strut rods, and the recesses have a width corresponding to the thickness of the joint plates. The recesses extend diagonally through the foam core of the strut rods, and the joint plates are inserted into the recesses where they are glued in place. The transverse rods are provided with slots in the ends thereof. The joint plates are inserted into the slots and glued to join the strut rods to the transverse rods.
