    摘要: A watercraft propulsion system has a driveshaft, an impeller or a propeller, an overrunning clutch, an electric motor and an internal combustion engine. The overrunning clutch has a first race and a second race. The first race is one of an inner race and an outer race. The second race is an other one of the inner race and the outer race. The first race is connected to the driveshaft for driving the driveshaft. The electric motor has a motor output shaft operatively connected to the first race. The internal combustion engine has an engine output shaft operatively connected to the second race. The overrunning clutch is connected to the motor output shaft and the engine output shaft such that the electric motor is able to selectively rotate the first race at a higher speed than the second race. A watercraft having the propulsion system is also disclosed.

    摘要: The sailing space frame of the present invention is supported by three hulls, a rudder hull a dagger board hull and an outrigger hull. The space frame also includes two mast assemblies, a fore spar, and a crew's quarters. The space frame can couple with a vessel propelled by a fossil fueled engine, and convert the combined space frame/vessel into an efficient sailing vessel that does not require fossil fuel for the trans-ocean portion of its voyage between ports. The outrigger provides sufficient stability to the sail propelled vessel so that it can carry a large enough sail area to supplant the use of the fossil fueled engine on the open ocean between ports. When entering or leaving a port the vessel uses its own engines for propulsion.

    摘要: An azimuthing drive system is provided for marine vessels. The azimuthing drive system includes a propulsion pod that houses a propulsor, which is configured to rotate about a first axis and to be driven by a first shaft generally orthogonal to the first axis. The propulsion pod is configured to swivel about the first shaft. The drive system also includes a gearbox connected to drive the first shaft, a diesel engine connected to drive the gearbox via a second shaft, and an electric motor connected to drive the first shaft via the gearbox or directly, whereby propulsion loads are shared between the diesel engine and the electric motor.

    摘要: A method of integrating, optimizing and combining in a marine electric or hybrid system, the operation and safety of one or more energy storage units, a combination of one or more electric outboard(s) and ICE outboard(s) in a propulsion systems through use of an Energy Management Computer. One aspect of the invention involves the application of logic programming to automate the optimization and the operation of the Internal Combustion Engines (STANDARD OUTBOARD) so that whenever the system requires their usage, they are operated at optimum efficiency conditions. For a STANDARD OUTBOARD to operate at peak efficiency a combination of a large energy storage unit used as a buffer combined with electric outboard(s) is used.
