Abstract:
The medium feed device has a meandering detection sensor which detects position displacement of a recording medium in a width direction, and a control section which controls driving of a width movement unit based on detection results by the meandering detection sensor. The control section stops driving of the width movement unit when stopping feeding of the intermittent feeding.
Abstract:
A system is described for tracking a position of a receiver medium as it travels along a media path. A heat source provides heat to the receiver medium in a localized area sufficient to permanently deform the receiver medium to form a reference mark. A light source illuminates the receiver medium, and a sensor is used to sense light from the light source that is transmitted through the receiver medium or reflected from the receiver medium thereby providing a sensed light level signal. The sensed light level signal is analyzed to determine a position of the receiver medium by detecting a change in the sensed light level signal that is characteristic of the physical deformation associated with the reference mark.
Abstract:
A web tracking system for a continuous web of material which is transported from a supply to a takeup means along a predetermined path via one or more processing stations and comprises aligned tracking indicia along at least one edge of the web. Means are provided to observe the tracking indica as the web is transported along the system path and produce information either indicative of dimensional changes in the length and width of the web due to web shrinkage or expansion or indicative of a particular point along the length of the web useful at one or more of the processing stations in the system.
Abstract:
A base material processing apparatus includes a transport mechanism, a force detection part, a meandering prediction part, a processing part, and a controller. The transport mechanism transports an elongated strip-shaped base material in a longitudinal direction thereof along a transport path aimed by a plurality of rollers of the transport mechanism. The force detection part detects a force applied to a sensing roller in an axial direction of a rotation shaft thereof, the sensing roller being at least one of the plurality of rollers. The controller predicts the meandering state of the base material to output meandering prediction information, based on the force applied to the sensing roller in the axial direction of the rotation shaft thereof. The meandering prediction part corrects the widthwise position of the base material relative to the processing part, based on the meandering prediction information. Thus, the base material processing apparatus is capable of sensing the meandering state of the base material through the use of the existing rollers of the transport mechanism in the processing part, and is capable of correcting the widthwise position of the base material relative to the processing part.
Abstract:
A printing apparatus includes a control unit that calculates a transport amount (an actual transport amount) during a transport period based on a captured image of a medium by an imaging unit and controls a transport unit. In addition, the control unit calculates the transport amount (the actual transport amount) during the transport period by calculating the transport amount at each calculation interval (a divided transport amount) and integrating the transport amount at each calculation interval (the divided transport amount). Then, the control unit causes the calculation interval to be longer in a case where the transporting speed of the medium is low than in a case where the transporting speed of the medium is high.

A winding machine for winding a fiber texture onto an impregnation mandrel, includes: a take-up mandrel for storing and unwinding a fiber texture, the take-up mandrel having a substantially horizontal axis of rotation; an impregnation mandrel for receiving superposed layers of the fiber texture unwound from the take-up mandrel, the impregnation mandrel having an axis of rotation that is substantially horizontal and parallel to the axis of rotation of the take-up mandrel; a camera directed towards the fiber texture and the impregnation mandrel to examine the passage of warp tracer yarns and weft tracer yarns present in the fiber texture; an image-analysis module for determining the positions of the intersections of warp tracer yarns with the successive weft tracer yarns and comparing these determined positions with corresponding positions for the intersections of reference warp and weft tracer yarns, and determining an offset value for the fiber texture for each of these intersections; electric motors for driving the mandrels in rotation about their respective axes of rotation; and a control unit for controlling the electric motors for driving rotation of the mandrels.
Abstract:
A system is described for tracking a position of a receiver medium as it travels along a media path. A heat source provides heat to the receiver medium in a localized area sufficient to permanently alter a fluorescent agent in the receiver medium, thereby forming a reference mark characterized by a reduced level of fluorescence. A stimulating light source illuminates the receiver medium at a downstream position along the media path, the stimulating light source having a spectrum adapted to stimulate the fluorescent agent to fluoresce thereby producing emitted light. A sensor is used to sense the emitted light from the receiver medium thereby providing a sensed light level signal. The sensed light level signal is analyzed to determine a position of the receiver medium by detecting the reduced level of fluorescence associated with the reference mark.

Apparatus for and a method of marking a web 10 advancing along a path includes a monitoring station 11 at which the web 10 is observed and including a signal generator arranged to produce an appropriate mark signal on detecting a location to be marked as well as the nature of the required mark. A tab applicator 20 is disposed downstream of the monitoring station for applying an adhesive tab 34 to the web in a timed relationship to the advancement of the web so as to adhere the tab 34 to the required location on the web. The tab applicator includes an online printer receiving a signal from the signal generator, whereby an applied tab may carry appropriate indicia for the location being marked.
Abstract:
A system and method for incorporating, in the production of a continuous stream of images, by an image transfer device upon a moving web, post-production operations upon the web at various locations. Locations of a web, having a plurality of images placed thereon, output from an image transfer device are tracked. Specific operations at various locations upon the web are performed by a post-production device as the web passes through it. The web is directed from the image transfer device to the post-production device. In response to the tracking of locations upon the web, the point when a location has entered the post-production device is determined. In response to this determination, the post-production device is commanded to perform its specific operation at a connect location.

An apparatus automatically generates a tape having splice area and other markings which indicate acceptable splice points on a length of fabric from which garment pattern pieces are to be cut. The apparatus includes a computer for calculating splice and other pertinent points on a fabric layup. The apparatus also includes a controller for receiving printing commands from the computer. The apparatus also includes a printer responsive to signals from the controller for quickly and accurately printing on the tape splice information and data identifying the marker for which the splice point indicating tape was generated. The apparatus also includes a tape advance system for advancing the tape from a supply roll to the printer and then to a takeup roll.
