    摘要: A method for forming a protective coating containing aluminum on the surface of a metal part, wherein the part is contacted with a carburizer made of an aluminum alloy, at a treatment temperature and in a chamber, the atmosphere of which contains an active gas which reacts with the carburizer to form a gaseous aluminum halide, which decomposes upon contacting the part while depositing aluminum metal thereon. In the method the aluminum alloy of the carburizer includes at least one element, zirconium and/or hafnium, the active gas reacting with the carburizer to also form a halide of the reactive element which decomposes upon contacting the part while depositing the element thereon at the same time as the aluminum.

    摘要: A method for adjusting the coolant consumption within actively cooled components is produced. The components include an interior with at least one duct with different regions which have different cross sections of flow. A greater increase in the wall thickness is produced in the region having the smaller cross section of flow by a first diffusion process and a lesser increase in the wall thickness is produced in the region having the larger cross section of flow by a second diffusion process which is different from the first. By using different diffusion coatings in a component, it is possible to adjust the flow of coolant through a component in a controlled way.

    摘要: A coating process for an article having a substrate formed of a metal alloy that is prone to the formation of a secondary reaction zone (SRZ). The coating process forms a coating system that includes an aluminum-containing overlay coating and a stabilizing layer between the overlay coating and the substrate. The overlay coating contains aluminum in an amount greater by atomic percent than the metal alloy of the substrate, such that there is a tendency for aluminum to diffuse from the overlay coating into the substrate. The stabilizing layer is predominantly or entirely formed of at least one platinum group metal (PGM), namely, platinum, rhodium, iridium, and/or palladium. The stabilizing layer is sufficient to inhibit diffusion of aluminum from the overlay coating into the substrate so that the substrate remains essentially free of an SRZ that would be deleterious to the mechanical properties of the alloy.
