    摘要: When a start condition is satisfied after the internal combustion engine has been stopped according to an automatic stop control, a control apparatus reversely rotates the engine to compress an air in an expansion stroke cylinder at that time point, and thereafter generates a first time combustion. The apparatus determines whether the start condition becomes satisfied based on a first start request owing to a driving operation by a driver of a vehicle on which the engine is mounted. When the start condition becomes satisfied based on the first start request, the control apparatus makes a maximum value of an engine generating torque by the first time combustion and/or a maximum torque of the engine generating torque by a second time combustion larger as compared to when the start condition becomes satisfied based on a second start request other than the first start request.

    摘要: A four stroke single cylinder combustion engine starting system with an electrical machine is operable as both a generator and a motor. The starting system has a single cylinder four stroke combustion engine. A piston of the engine is coupled to a shaft of the electrical machine. The starting system also has a motor driver having outputs coupled to the electrical machine. A controller is coupled to the driver and an ignition switch is coupled to the controller. In response to the controller receiving an ignition signal from the ignition switch, the driver controls the electrical machine to operate as a motor so that the electrical machine rotates in a reverse direction to move the piston in a reverse stroke cycle. After the piston reverses to a power stroke position of the reverse stroke cycle the driver controls electrical machine to rotate in a forward direction to move the piston in a forward stroke cycle to attempt to ignite the combustion engine.

    摘要: A starter device (10) for a combustion engine (1), particularly of a motor vehicle. The device includes a rotary electrical machine (11) comprising a drive member (12) and a tensioner. A belt (13) collaborates with the drive member of the rotary electrical machine and with the combustion engine in order that the latter can be started using the belt rotationally driven by the electrical machine in a first direction (A). A tensioner (15) presses against a length (16) of the belt that runs between the electrical machine and the combustion engine. As the rotary electrical machine rotates in a second direction (B) the opposite of the first, it is possible for the tensioner to be brought from a stopped position into a position for beginning to start the combustion engine. The movement from the stopped position to the position for beginning to start being accompanied by a lengthening of said length of belt and/or by an increase in the tension in this length of belt.

The method involves causing the motor to supply a positioning torque to the engine to move the at least one moveable element into a starting position, The method also involves causing the motor to supply a starting torque to the engine when the at least one moveable element is in the starting position to cause the moveable element to accelerate from the starting position under low compression conditions to generate sufficient momentum to overcome a peak compression condition in the chamber, thereby reducing the starting torque required to start the engine.
