    摘要: An immunological confirmation method is disclosed for the detection of hepatitis B virus infection wherein the testing of certain samples showing unclear reactivity is repeated once without and once in the presence of recombinantly produced HBcAg particles. If the sample is truly hepatitis B virus core antibody positive, the rHBcAg will trap the anti-HBcAg antibodies and influence the readout accordingly.

These hepatitis virus capsid assembly systems utilize the C-terminal domain (CTD) and N-terminal domain (NTD) of the hepatitis capsid protein in capsid assembly. Uses of the system include the identification of potential new therapeutic strategies and screening of potential therapeutic agents which target these domains and modulate capsid assembly and/or disassembly and other functions of these domains in HBV replication and pathogenesis.

    摘要: A disposable device suitable for performing automated solid-phase diagnostic assays which employs microparticles to complex an analyte and where the microparticle complex becomes retained and immobilized on a fibrous matrix such that the presence of analyte on the microparticles can be detached by optical means. A device is disclosed having a plurality of well pairs comprising a sample well for receiving a sample and reagents for forming a reaction mixture, a read well comprising (a) an entrance port and holder for receiving and holding a quantity of sample and assay reagents, (b) a fibrous matrix for retaining and immobilizing microparticle/analyte complexes for detection, said fibrous matrix positioned below said holder, and having an average spatial separation of fibers greater than the average diameter of said microparticles, (c) absorbent material positioned below said fibrous matrix for assisting the flow of sample and assay reagents through said fibrous matrix, (d) walls or ribs for creating a substantially light-tight real surrounding the wells, (e) a vent for venting air entrapped in the absorbent material and which is displaced by fluids absorbed therein, and (f) a passage between the sample well and the read well whereby sample and reaction mixtures can be transferred and washed from said sample well into said read well without being contacted by any apparatus.

    摘要: Some embodiments provide for a diagnostic test strip for detecting analytes that contains a carrier strip and one or more test pads. Such test pads contain at least one, but preferably two or three transparent membranes or test pad layers. A first transparent membrane has at least one test reagent that indicates the presence of a reference analyte if it has been stored at or below a specified temperature and at least one test reagent that indicates the presence of a reference analyte if it has received a sufficient volume of body fluid. The second transparent membrane contains at least one test reagent that indicates the presence of at least one hepatitis related target analyte. Test reagents are arranged on the membranes such that analyte detection produces a signal in any desired shape, such as a circle, oval, square, plus sign, an “X” sign, and/or a checkmark. Furthermore, a single membrane may contain two or more separate test reagents that detect the same or different analytes.
