摘要:
A composite fabric garment includes a first garment portion disposed in one or more upper regions of the fabric garment, i.e. those regions relatively more likely in use to be exposed to wind and rain, and a second garment portion disposed in one or more lower regions of the fabric garment, i.e. those regions relatively less likely in use to be exposed to wind and rain. The first garment portion is formed of a first composite fabric having first inner and outer fabric layers and a first intermediate barrier layer disposed between and bonded to at least one of the first inner and outer fabric layers, the first intermediate barrier layer being breathable and substantially impermeable to wind and liquid water. The second garment portion is formed of a second composite fabric formed of second inner and outer fabric layers and having predetermined air permeability. In one embodiment, the second garment portion further includes a second intermediate, breathable, air-permeable barrier layer disposed between and bonded to at least one of the second inner and outer fabric layers. In another embodiment, the second garment portion is formed of a composite fabric having controlled air permeability in a non-laminate absent a barrier.

A method of producing a three dimensional angle interlock ceramic fiber which is stable to high aeroacoustic noise of about 170 decibels and to high temperatures of about 2500 degrees F. is disclosed. The method uses multiple separate strands of a ceramic fiber or ceramic tow suitable for weaving having multiple warp fibers and multiple fill fibers woven with a modified fly-shuttle loom or rapier shuttleless loom which has nip rolls, a modified fabric advancement mechanism and at least eight harnesses in connection with a Dobby pattern chain utilizing sufficient heddles for each warp fiber and a reed which accommodates at least 168 ends per inch. The method produces a multilayered top fabric, rib fabric and single-layered bottom fabric.

A composite of an insulative layer and a fire retardant fabric which is used to make protective articles for laser surgery and which possesses favorable burning, flashing, and resistance to burn through properties. The insulative layer is preferably a hydrogel or other hydrophilic material such as a polyurethane, collagen, polyacrylonitrile, polyvinyl alcohol, or polyvinyl acetal. The fire retardant fabric is preferably a fabric woven or knitted from polyamide or polyimide fibers having a thickness sufficient to provide the desired degree of protection.

The present invention relates to improved compressible, offset printing blankets suitable for use on high speed web processors. These blankets have improved resistance to fall-off at the gap and also have improved resistance to surface piping subsequent to reverse rolling of the blanket. The instant printing blanket comprises a carcass layer, a compressible layer overlaying the carcass layer, a stabilizing layer overlaying the compressible layer and an ink transfer layer upon the compressible layer, wherein the stabilizing layer is formed of a fabric having a plurality of continuous filament synthetic warp yarns, preferably nylon or polyester, following a sinusoidal path over and under the weft yarns.

A system of operating room garments including two-component scrub pants with an elastic waist band and elastic bands in the mid-thigh area to define a containment zone between the two and knit cuffs at the ankle area, to be worn under a tabard for maximum protection against bacterial transmission as required and, over both, a surgical gown is worn with barrier panel sleeves and in the chest area extending from the neck to the mid-thigh area. The barrier panel composed of a bacteriostatically-treated polyester/cotton fabric sandwiched between a pair of water repellent, microporous urethane-coated fabrics or high-density woven fabrics, the composite being stitched together. The system provides the choice of garment selection depending upon the surgical procedure involved.

A material suitable for fabricating chemical warfare protective garments comprises at least one layer of an activated woven carbon fabric plus a body-side high absorbency rayon layer interposed between said at least one woven carbon fabric layer and the wearer's body. An innermost body-side layer of a ribbed fabric such as corduroy underlays the carbon and rayon layers to channel vapor away from the material. Chemical warfare protective garments having extended use life can be fabricated from this material.

A lightweight armored vehicle and method of making the same is shown. The interior of a standard automobile to be equipped with lightweight armor is first stripped of its interior furnishings. Doors and window frames are rebuilt to rigidly mount a bulletproof transparent window therein. The passenger compartment is bulletproofed by placing lightweight woven polyester glass sheets about it to form a continuous protective layer. Where appropriate the sheets are rigidly formed with a resin-catalyst mixture. Additional bullet resistant strength may be provided by multiple layers of ballistic nylon, aromatic polyamide material, or by similar such materials woven together into composite units.

Sidewalls for loom shuttles are made of outer or wearing surfaces of unidirectional textile fabric reinforced with phenolic resin and laminated, providing a high abrasion resistant surface with a smooth finish. The next layers on each side are of glass fiber cloth coated with phenolic resin, and finally, between the glass cloth layers, a layer of bulking or filler material. This bulking or filling material layer may be another laminate of textile fabric and phenolic resin or it may be low density material, such as wood. If the bulking layer is of phenolic laminate or wood, an increased amount of rigidity results, though this is not the primary factor for rigidity, which is the result of the outer two layers on each side and particularly the glass cloth laminate layers. The sidewall construction can be fabricated either by pressing all components together as a laminate at one time or forming the individual components separately and later bonding them to form the desired structure in a separate operation.
