摘要: A method and apparatus for moulding a fluid settable material. The apparatus includes male and female mould halves defining between them a mould cavity having an inlet thereto for the introduction of a fluid settable material; between the male and female mould halves of the cavity a seal can be interposed to seal the mould cavity from the atmosphere. At least one vacuum outlet from a mould half leads via an isolation valve to a vacuum source. The method includes the steps of creating a depression in the mould cavity by withdrawing air therefrom through the vacuum outlet via the isolation valve, introducing a fluid settable material into the thus evacuated mould cavity until the mould cavity is wholly filled by the settable material, closing the isolation valve between the vacuum outlet and the vacuum source, injecting a small additional quantity of fluid settable material under pressure into the mould cavity, closing the inlet through which the fluid material is introduced into the mould cavity and allowing the fluid settable material to solidify.

摘要: An inner mold for molding a cylinder having a bore-forming core for forming a cylinder bore, and a shell core for forming a recess in the cylinder that can serve as, for instance, a scavenging passage. Holes are formed in the bore-forming core for allowing the shell core to fittingly engage with the bore-forming core, and the bottom surfaces of each of the holes are arcuately concaved.

摘要: A connector housing assembly having a ring-like packing formed integrally with a resin housing member to provide an improved sealing function at a reduced manufacturing cost. The housing is formed by resin molding using male and female molds. In one embodiment of the invention, the first male mold is removed and replaced with another male mole shaped so as to form a hollow portion corresponding to the desired shape of the packing. Rubber material is poured into the hollow portion through lead-in paths in at least one of the female mold or the second male mold. In another embodiment, the two molds used to form the housing are both removed, and the first male mold is replaced with a second male mold defining the hollow portion used to form the packing.

摘要: A clear, cylindrical, flexible gasket having an annular shoulder located on the interior surface thereof, midway between the ends. The gasket is sized to accept two lens half molds, one on either side of said shoulder to form a lens casting cavity. Each side of the shoulder has first and second annular protrusions extending therefrom for contacting and providing an annular double seal along the edges of each of the half molds. The surface of the shoulder which forms the side of the lens casting cavity is curved in order to reduce stress to a minimum during the shrinkage of the lens casting resin during the cure period. In addition, the casting surface of the shoulder is formed such that the final molded lens will have an outer ridge thereon. One end of the cylindrical gasket has an enlarged edge for additional strength and is provided with index markings thereon which extend beyond the edge and down the outer side of the clear gasket. Two identical fill ports are provided on opposite sides of the gasket. A necked down portion is provided at the point where the filling passage connects with the lens casting surface of the shoulder so that as the plastic resin of the lens being molded cures and shrinks, the plastic in the fill passage is automatically severed from the plastic which forms the final plastic lens product.

摘要: A plastics material mold for casting a contact lens from curable material. Disposable male and female mold members (20,22;50,51) define a mold cavity and each having a curved surface (21,23;52,54) for molding respective optical surface of the contact lens, the male mold member having a shoulder (26,53) which is a slidable fit with a generally cylindrical, e.g. frusto-conical, surface (25,55) on a female mold member to permit relative mold member movement during curing without substantially affecting the optical quality of the molded optical surfaces. The sliding fit shoulder and female surface are relatively simple to mold with accuracy and thus permit the edge (29) of the eventual cast lens to be formed relatively reliably and accurately.

摘要: Gasket used in a fabrication method, wherein a methylmethacrylate prepolymer or a mixture of unsaturated monomers, whose main constituent is methylmethacrylate, or the unsaturated monomer or monomers themselves is (are) introduced into a mold comprised of two parallel plates separated by said gasket, and the mold is brought to a temperature sufficient to complete or carry out the polymerization. The gasket consists of a core of plasticized poly(vinylchloride), said core being sheathed by a thin layer of thermoplastic polymers chosen from among propylene polymers and saturated polymers, said thermoplastic polymer being capable of retaining its elasticity at temperatures ranging from 20.degree. to 120.degree. C. and having a melting or softening point higher than 115.degree. C.

摘要: Light-diffusing methacrylic plates are continuously prepared by casting a polymerizable material composed of methyl methacrylate or a partially polymerized product thereof with 0.2 to 3.0% by weight of a light diffusing material between two belts. The belts are separated by an average distance l but are capable of both compression and expansion relative to this average separation. The method involves applying compression at at least one point in the casting space to reduce the separation distance and then allowing expansion back to a maximum distance wherein the maximum spacing between the belts is from (l+1) mm to (l+0.2) mm and the minimum spacing during compression is from (l-1) mm to (l-0.2) mm.

摘要: A mold is described for the molding of substantially isotropic isocyanate-based polymer foam buns. The mold is a box mold which has sidewalls of which at least one pair disposed in parallel relationship is adapted to move outwardly when subjected to pressure exerted by the expanding foam during the molding operation. The outward movement of the sidewalls is controlled by stops provided on the periphery of the mold floor, said sidewalls being free to slide over the surface of the floor. The lid of the mold is supported in sliding engagement with the upper edges of the sidewalls. The mold and the process of fabricating foam buns therewith is particularly suitable for use in situations (e.g. operation in the field) in which it is not possible or practicable to employ continuous bunstock machines. The mold is relatively inexpensive and readily dismantled for transportation to a fabrication site.
