Abstract: A novel hydraulic fluid composition for application to drilling equipment is described herein. These hydraulic fluid compositions permit effective monitoring or controlling well-head pressure of a well during drilling on land or offshore. The hydraulic fluid compositions prevent uncontrolled flow of gas, oil, or another well fluid out of an underground formation during a drilling or extraction process when applied to the drilling equipment. Accordingly, provided is a hydraulic fluid concentrate which contains a water-soluble phosphate ester and a sulfide compound containing at least one S—S linkage, at least 10 carbon atoms and at least one terminal carboxylate group, wherein the S—S linkage bridges two alkyl groups. Additional components can be added to the concentrate and include one or more alkaline compound, one or more dicarboxylic acid or salt thereof, a water-soluble corrosion inhibitor, a water-soluble biocide, a pour point depressant, and water, ethylene glycol, or a combination thereof. The concentrate is then further diluted by the customer for use as described herein. Particularly, these compositions are effective in reducing seawater corrosion of a metal in contact with the hydraulic fluid composition, reducing bioaccumulation in oil drilling equipment contacted with the hydraulic fluid composition, and have low toxicity to sea life.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are biodegradable coating and paint compositions comprising 1,3-propanediol, wherein the 1,3-propanediol in said biodegradable composition has a bio-based carbon content of about 1% to 100%. In addition, it is preferred that the 1,3-propanediol be biologically-derived, and wherein upon biodegradation, the biologically-derived 1,3-propanediol contributes no anthropogenic CO2 emissions to the atmosphere.

Abstract: The present invention provides a grease composition or a lubricating oil composition which is capable of effectively preventing hydrogen brittleness-caused peeling from occurring on a rolling surface of a rolling bearing, is excellent in durability in a high temperature and speed operation, and can be used for a long time. A grease-packed bearing (1) has an inner ring (2), an outer ring (3), and a plurality of rolling elements (4). A sealing member (6) for sealing a grease composition (7) is provided at openings (8a) and (8b) disposed at both axial ends of the inner ring (2) and the outer ring (3). The grease composition (7) includes a base grease composed of a base oil and a thickener and an additive added to the base grease. The additive contains at least one compound selected from among plant-derived polyphenolic compounds and compounds formed by decomposition thereof. The above-described compounds include tannin, gallic acid, ellagic acid, chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid, curcumin, quercetin, and quinic acid.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a nano-diamond dispersion solution and a method of preparing the same. The method of preparing a nano-diamond dispersion solution comprises the following steps: providing a nano-diamond aggregation; mixing the nano-diamond aggregation with a metal hydroxide solution and stirring the mixture such that the nano-diamond aggregation is separated, to obtain a mixture solution; stabilizing the mixture solution such that the mixture solution is separated into a supernatant and precipitates; and extracting the supernatant and precipitates.

Abstract: A top of rail (TOR) applicator has a bar positioned in a housing and an exit orifice on the upper portion of the bar for delivering a friction control composition to the crown of a railhead. The upper portion of the bar slopes away from the friction control composition exit orifice. The bar may be composed of an elastomer such as polyurethane. A passageway may extend from an inlet port to the exit orifice. The friction reduction composition is pumped into the inlet port, through the passageway to the exit orifice and then onto the crown of the railhead. The friction reduction composition may be thixotropic.

Abstract: A novel hydraulic fluid composition for application to drilling equipment is described herein.
