    摘要: An arrangement to control equipment over a common network. A serial network transfers commands, and receives data from a plurality of distributed locations. Equipment located at each location executes tasks based on control information received over the network. Each equipment includes a memory which contains data to identify to the serial network, the identity of functions carried out by the equipment. Sensors may be located at some of the locations for generating data for transmission over the network. Each sensor also has a memory which identifies the sensor to the serial network. The plurality of modules connecting each of the equipment and the sensors to the network are configured to read the memory contents to carry out the function identified of the connected equipment or sensor.

    摘要: A transferable electronic control unit having a non-volatile memory that retains values of learned correction factors for control parameters used in adaptively controlling the operation of a vehicle is disclosed. The electronic control unit receives an identification signal from the vehicle in which it operates. By comparing the value of the received identification signal with a stored value identifying the vehicle operated when learning the values of the correction factors that are stored in non-volatile memory, the electronic control unit determines whether or not it has been transferred between vehicles. When a transfer between vehicles has not occurred, the value of the learned correction factors stored in non-volatile memory are used to begin adaptively controlling vehicle operation. When a transfer between vehicles has occurred, initial or mean values for the correction factors are used to begin adaptively controlling vehicle operation. As a result, the electronic control unit can be transferred between vehicles without causing malfunctions in vehicle operation.

    摘要: An electronic controller 16 for use in controlling vehicle operation comprises first and second memories 22,24, the first containing a plurality of control procedures and data values for controlling the operation of the controller for use with a plurality of different vehicle types, the second containing a plurality of pointers for selecting an appropriate control procedure and appropriate data values for the particular type to which the controller 16 is fitted. Therefore, a single controller 16 can be used with a plurality of different vehicle types. A portable programmer 20 communicates with a host computer 12 of a vehicle assembly line 1 and programs the controllers 16 under control of the host 12. A programming unit 50 is provided at service garages for reprogramming fitted controllers 16 or for programming replacement controllers 16', and can communicate with the host computer 12 for control thereby. The possibility of human error in providing the correct controller 16 for a particular vehicle 10, or in reprogramming a fitted controller 16 or programming a replacement controller 16'is eliminated.

    摘要: Separate, but related, firmware programs for multiple microprocessor-controlled irrigation controllers that are interrelated in their control of irrigation within an irrigation system are generated off-line at a personal computer. The programs are downloaded into a transportable memory device that holds sixty-four separate programs. The memory device is transported to each irrigation controller and plugged to a digital communication channel. The device automatically identifies itself to the controller, and vice versa. The appropriate program is automatically uploaded from the device to the controller. The controller's old program and its historical irrigation record data is loaded into the device and delivered to the personal computer for validation and analysis. A wireless remote test command assembly, an extension maintenance panel, or a radio-link central module may be alternatively connected to the controller's digital communication channel. The controller is powered by the memory device during the uploading.
