    Abstract: An apparatus and a system are provided to proxy one or more media signals between at least one local client device and at least one remote client device. For instance, the apparatus can include a first network interface, a rate controller and media transcoder, and a second network interface. The first network interface receives a plurality of media signals over a first communication network, where the plurality of media signals is encoded into at least one codec format. The rate controller and media transcoder transcodes one or more of the plurality of media signals into a different codec format based on channel and processing capabilities associated with one or more local client devices and one or more control messages. The second network interface transmits the one or more of the transcoded plurality of media signals to a respective plurality of remote client devices over a second communication network.

    Abstract: A network architecture includes a gateway that terminates broadband service at a particular location, e.g., at the entry to a house or business. The gateway may execute a MoCA network controller (NC) that manages a network of MoCA nodes connected by cable connections. The gateway distributes content to the MoCA nodes on the network, using a logical star topology over the physical tree topology connections. The NC allocates greater downlink (gateway to MoCA node) bandwidth compared to uplink (node to gateway) bandwidth. Because the gateway terminates the broadband service, the network architecture frees very significant spectrum over the cable connections, permitting, for instance, the transmission of hundreds of Mbps of broadband content streams to the MoCA nodes.

The system includes a plurality of queues, each associated with a type of video frames and a classifier to store a packet of a plurality of packets in a respective queue of the plurality of queues based on a field in the packet that indicates the type of video frame in the packet. The system also includes a scheduler configured to selectively transmit or drop the packet based on an available bitrate for transmission and the type of video frame associated with the queue.

    Abstract: A technique of using a remote control device to identify a source for transferring content on a home network, a renderer for rendering the content and a pathway within a home network to couple the source to the renderer to transfer the content.     Abstract: Certain aspects of a method and system for adaptive temporal interpolation filtering for motion compensation may include computing a plurality of weights for adaptively adjusting one or more parameters of a plurality of linear filters utilized for motion compensation. One or more motion compensated output pictures may be generated based on vector median filtering a plurality of linear filtered output pictures generated by the plurality of linear filters. In instances where two frames are utilized for motion estimation of a video sequence, a motion compensated picture of a previous frame and a motion compensated picture of a current frame may be combined to adaptively compute the subsequent weights. In instances where three or more frames are utilized for motion estimation of a video sequence, the generated one or more motion compensated output pictures may be combined with an extracted desired picture from the video sequence to adaptively compute the subsequent weights.
