Abstract:
A method and system for restoring, to a previous state, a single object whose state was modified in a group editing action wherein a plurality of objects, including the single object, were modified as a group. Prior to execution of the group editing action, restorative information, necessary to restore each of the objects to its state prior to being modified by the group editing action, is stored in a data structure. After execution of the group editing action, group edit restorative information indicating the state, after the execution of the group editing action, of each of the objects that were modified by the group editing action is stored in another data structure. The single object is restored to its previous state in accordance with the group edit restorative information corresponding to the single object, in response to an indication that one of the plurality of objects is to be restored to its previous state.
Abstract:
Methods and compositions for regulating immunity are disclosed. For enhancing an immune response, agents that inhibit OX-2 are administered. Such methods are useful in treating cancer. For suppressing an immune response, an OX-2 protein or a nucleic acid encoding an OX-2 protein is administered. Such methods are useful in preventing graft rejection, fetal loss, autoimmune disease, allergies and in inducing tumor cell growth.

Abstract:
A pump assembly for a penile implant is provided having a mechanism which prevents spontaneous inflation of the cylinders implanted within the user. The preventative mechanism uses overpressure generated by the reservoir during unintentional compression to effectively seal the pump assembly from unintended fluid flow. The prevention mechanism itself creates all necessary forces to prevent the undesired fluid flow to the cylinders. This is accomplished by incorporating appropriate mechanisms within the pump itself.
Abstract:
A Stirling engine assembly comprising a Stirling engine (1) with a hot head (3) and a cold region (4). An annular burner (9) surrounds the head and is arranged to provide heat to the head. A corrugated seal (2) between the Stirling engine and the burner prevents the flow of combustion gases from the head into the surrounding environment. The Stirling engine is supported by a mounting frame (23) at least in part via the seal.
Abstract:
An electronic pointing or cursor control device comprising a first chamber and a second chamber, wherein: the two chambers are adjoined and separated by a fluid-tight separating wall; the first chamber contains electronic components; the second chamber comprises an aperture; the second chamber contains a ball, the ball protruding through said aperture; the said separating wall comprises an optically permeable region; and the electronic components include optical detection means directed towards the optically permeable region and the ball, the detection means being operable in use to detect motion of the ball and to generate electronic signals representative of said motion. The device may be a trackball or a mouse. Also provided is an electronic pointing or cursor control device comprising a ball and optical detection means responsive to movement of the ball, the optical detection means being operable in use to detect motion of the ball and to generate electronic signals representative of said motion, wherein the detection means are mounted at an angular position around the circumference of the ball such that a radial line from the ball to the detection means forms a non-zero angle with a diametric line though the ball normal to the mounting plane of the device.
Abstract:
A domestic combined heat and power system comprising a Stirling engine (1) and water heater in the form of a supplementary burner (17). The exhaust gas from the Stirling engine is used to preheat combustible gas entering the Stirling engine and subsequently used to heat the water. The water heater (15) has a helical water duct (41) towards the periphery of a housing (39). Separate parts of this duct are heated, in series, by the exhaust gas from the Stirling engine and the supplementary burner (17) firing radially outwardly through the helical duct.
Abstract:
An inexpensive audio bookmark system is provided that includes a control interface in the form of an electrical plug/receptacle type adaptor for plugging into an electrical power source receptacle. The adaptor includes female receptacles for receiving a power plug from an audio or audio-visual device in the form of a tape or video cassette player. The adaptor is connected in series with a remote control push-button switch having a low pressure responsive push button actuator normally biased to an open-circuit position interrupting power to the tape player. When playing a books-on-tape recording or the like, the listener manually depresses the remote switch push button actuator to energize the audio device. In the event the listener is distracted or dozes so as to release the push button actuator, the audio device will stop playing, thereby maintaining the tape deactivated at substantially the precise point at which the listener has been distracted or dozes off. Thereafter, subsequent depressing of the remote control switch push button initiates play at substantially the point at which play was interrupted.
Abstract:
A printing apparatus comprises a print head and foil feed means provided on a mount for feeding foil past the print head when the mount is in a feed position adjacent the print head. The print head is operable to transfer ink from the foil onto a recording medium for generating printed matter on the recording medium. The print head is movable relative to the body of the apparatus between a printing position at which printing is effected and a user accessible position spaced therefrom. The apparatus is configured so that the mount can be withdrawn away from the print head with the withdrawal operation causing the print head to move from the printing postiion to the accessible position.
Abstract:
A process for recovering a secondary base metal mineral from a material containing it involving treatment of a pulp of the material with surface modifying reagent such as a water soluble sulphide. The pulp is subjected to deaeration by introduction of a non-oxidising gas to prevent oxidation of the reagent. The process is applicable to recovery of secondary minerals such as azurite, malachite, cerussite, anglesite and zinc ferrites from host materials.
