Abstract: A wearable device is disclosed. The wearable device includes a housing, an attachment device configured to attach the housing to a person, at least one transmit antenna configured to transmit millimeter range radio waves over a 3D space below the skin surface of the person, multiple receive antennas configured to receive radio waves, the received radio waves including a reflected portion of the transmitted radio waves, and a processor configured to isolate a signal from a particular location in the 3D space in response to receiving the radio waves on the multiple receive antennas and outputting a signal that corresponds to a health parameter of the person in response to the isolated signal.

Abstract: A sensing system includes laser diodes with Bragg reflectors generating light having an initial light intensity and one or more near-infrared optical wavelengths. The laser diodes are modulated with a pulsed output with 0.5 to 2 nanosecond pulse duration. A beam splitter receives light from the laser diodes, splits the light into a received sample arm light directed to an object and a received reference arm light. A detection system includes a second lens and spectral filters in front of a photodiode array. The photodiode array is coupled to CMOS transistors and receives at least a portion of the received reference arm light and generates a reference detector signal. The detection system is synchronized with the laser diodes. A time-of-flight measurement is based on a comparison of the sample detector signal and the reference detector signal and measures a temporal distribution of photons in the received reflected sample arm light.

Abstract: A system for classifying the severity of a user's impairment can include a target apparatus, a plurality of inertial measurement units, and a processor. The target apparatus can include a base, a target structure coupled to the base, and a plurality of targets coupled to the target structure. The processor can be configured to classify the severity of the user's impairment based on the data collected from the inertial measurement units. A method can include classifying a severity of a person's impairment based on one or more motion features associated with the person's performance of one or more tasks at a target apparatus. A target apparatus used in assessing physical impairment of a user can include a track system, a target structure coupled to the track system, and a plurality of targets coupled to a central portion and arms of the target structure.

Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to a sensor based wearable fabric design for identifying distortion in movements and quantifying range of motion. Accurate quantification of multi-axial range of motion involved in complex movements of human body parts is challenging. The disclosure discloses a system and method providing a wearable fabric comprising a plurality of honey-comb structure with a plurality of adjacently placed hexagon structures. An optical sensor unit is placed on each side of each hexagon structure comprised in the plurality of honey-comb structures. A deformation of the plurality of sides of hexagon structure is determined to generate signatures of movement patterns of one or more body parts of a subject. Further, a comparison of generated signatures with stored signatures of the movement patterns is performed to determine an error indicative of a distortion in the movement patterns. The system and method accurately quantify range of motion with increased measurement accuracy.

Abstract: A system for monitoring a health parameter in a person is disclosed. The system includes at least one transmit antenna configured to transmit millimeter range radio waves over a 3D space below the skin surface of a person, multiple receive antennas configured to receive radio waves, the received radio waves including a reflected portion of the transmitted radio waves, and means for isolating a signal from a particular location in the 3D space in response to receiving the radio waves on the multiple receive antennas and outputting a signal that corresponds to a health parameter of the person in response to the isolated signal.

Abstract: A patient health management platform accesses a metabolic profile for a patient and biosignals recorded for the patient during a current time period comprising sensor data and/or lab test data collected for the patient. The platform receives patient data recorded during the current time period comprising food items consumed, medications taken, and symptoms experienced by the patient. The platform implements a machine-learned metabolic model to determine a metabolic state of the patient at a conclusion of the current time period by comparing a true representation of the metabolic state and a prediction of the metabolic state. The true representation and the prediction are determined based on the recorded biosignals and the recorded patient data, respectively. The platform generates a patient-specific treatment recommendation outlining instructions for the patient to improve their metabolic state and provides the patient-specific treatment recommendation to the patient device for display to the patient.

Abstract: A portable hearing screening and amplification device structured to be coupled to a headset includes: a housing, a plurality of buttons, a plurality of indicators, a microphone circuit, an output circuit, a power source, and a controller. Upon passing a background noise test, the portable hearing screening and amplification device is structured to transmit a plurality of hearing screening tones to the headset for a user for testing of the plurality of hearing screening tones and complete the hearing screening based on responses of the user related to the plurality of hearing screening tones, the responses including a number of hearing screening tones that the user has perceived during the hearing screening. Based on a determination that the number of hearing screening tones perceived is less than a prerequisite number, the portable hearing screening and amplification device is further structured to switch to amplification mode and provide amplification.
