Abstract: A take apart vehicle wheel assembly includes at least a first, a second and a third wheel part operatively connected together to form the take apart vehicle wheel assembly. A first one of the first, second and third wheel parts is provided with a plurality of first stud receiving holes spaced circumferentially therearound in a first unevenly spaced circumferential pattern such that each of the first stud receiving holes is spaced apart from a next adjacent first stud receiving hole by a different angular spacing. A second one of the first, second and third wheel parts is provided with a plurality of second stud receiving holes spaced circumferentially therearound in unevenly spaced circumferential pattern which corresponds to the first unevenly spaced circumferential pattern of the first stud receiving holes to enable stud bolts and nuts to be used to releasably connect the first one and the second one of the first, second and third wheel parts together.

Abstract: A wheel for a vehicle including an outer rim and an inner rim, in which the outer rim is comprised of a disk section formed by embossing a first portion having a certain thickness and a rim section formed by drawing a second portion having a smaller thickness than the first portion so as to make a periphery of the disk section; and the inner rim is comprised of superimposed portions formed by drawing and to be superimposed on prescribed positions of the disk section of the outer rim. Flange sections of the outer and inner rims are respectively inwardly curled so as to form a double-layered structure. Abstract: A multi-piece safety wheel includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced, interlocking bosses and tabs on the inner rim portion and outer rim portion. In the event of improper disassembly of the wheel with an inflated tire mounted thereon, any failure of the wheel assembly fasteners will result in the outer rim portion separating from the inner rim portion a sufficient distance to vent air pressure from within the tire, at which point the interlocking bosses and tabs resist further movement of the outer rim portion. The outer rim portion is thereby resisted from becoming a potentially dangerous projectile. A method of safely deflating the tire upon improper disassembly of the multi-piece safety wheel is also provided.

Abstract: An automotive passenger vehicle, full-face styled wheel construction having a sheet metal disc with an outer peripheral portion formed to provide an outboard tire bead retaining flange. The rim includes an inboard tire bead retaining flange, an inboard tire bead seat portion, a drop-center well portion and an outboard bead seat portion. The outboard edge of the rim has a radially in-turned flange portion extending circumferentially continuously around the rim edge with a plurality of serrations on an outside surface thereof that engage the disc. The rim and disc parts are permanently joined by a circumferentially continuous weld between the radially in-turned flange portion of the rim and the disc and into at least some of the serrations. The serrations eliminate or substantially reduce weld splatter by allowing weld gases to flow and escape evenly, and reduce weld material runout by providing high points for leveling during welding. Machining of the weld is eliminated.

Abstract: A wheel adapted for use by an automotive vehicle is provided. Such a wheel comprises a circular rim having an outer edge and defining an axis and a transverse plane perpendicular to the axis. A disc is operably engaged with the outer edge of the rim so as to be in coaxial relation with the rim. The disc has a plurality of radially-extending spokes and defines a vent window between successive spokes, wherein the vent window has a radially outermost portion. A bore defined by the rim is configured to receive the valve therein such that the mounting end is operably engaged with the bore at a mounting point and the beak end extends outwardly of the rim and through the vent window. The bore and the valve are configured such that an angle between the transverse plane and the axis of the valve is substantially less than an angle between the transverse plane and a line defined by the mounting point and the radially outermost portion of the vent window.
