摘要: A method of modifying a hub with a wheel adaptor. The wheel adaptor includes a cylindrical body, a first set of holes that includes six symmetrically spaced holes located at a first radial distance, a second set of holes that include three holes located at a second radial distance, and a third set of holes that include another three holes located at a third radial distance. The method includes coupling the wheel adaptor to the hub. The coupling includes passing six symmetrically spaced lugs of the hub through the wheel adaptor at the first set of holes and fastening using six hub lug nuts. The method further includes drilling six holes through the hub using the second set of holes and the third set of holes of the wheel adaptor as drilling guides.

摘要: A method for detecting a loosened bolted wheel joint on a wheel of a vehicle. The angular velocity of a hub of the wheel is evaluated. A periodic wheel modulation of the angular velocity is ascertained. An oscillation of the wheel generated due to the loosened bolted wheel joint is detected, using a step-change in a phase angle of the modulation by an expected angular increment, which is a function of the number of bolts.

摘要: A suspension is provided for coupling a front wheel with a chassis of an off-road vehicle. The suspension comprises upper and lower suspension arms that each includes two inboard mounting points to the chassis and one outboard rod-end joint to a spindle assembly coupled with the front wheel. A ball comprising each outboard rod-end joint is fastened by way a bolt between a pair of parallel prongs extending from the spindle assembly. The upper suspension arm is configured to facilitate coupling a strut between the lower suspension arm and the chassis. A steering rod is coupled with the spindle assembly by way of a steering rod-end joint that is disposed forward of a drive axle, thereby decreasing leverage of the front wheel on the steering rod and substantially eliminating bump steer that may occur due to rough terrain.

摘要: A full face fabricated vehicle wheel having a wheel attached to a wheel disc. The wheel disc includes a hub located centrally within the wheel disc and defining a wheel axis. The wheel disc further includes an outer circumferential edge having an outboard bead seat retaining flange, and an annular transition portion radially extending between the hub and the outer circumferential edge. The transition portion includes a plurality of vent hole regions circumferentially spaced around the transition portion about the wheel axis. At least one vent hole region includes a vent hole formed through the transition portion and defining an outer perimeter such that at least two bridging portions extend inwardly from the perimeter which subdivides the vent hole into at least three smaller holes formed through the transition portion at the at least one vent hole region.

摘要: A wheel fastening system for a wheeled mobile robot includes a chassis, a motor, a wheel, a thrust bearing, a stud, and a screw. The chassis has a base and a cover. The cover covers the base. The motor is disposed in the chassis. The motor has a shaft. The wheel has a hub by which the wheel is centered on the shaft of the motor. The thrust bearing is an interference fit between the wheel and the chassis and provides axial support for the wheel. The stud passes through the hub of the wheel to couple to the shaft of the motor. The screw is coupled to the stud, and is clamped between the base and the cover of the chassis. The stud and the screw prevent the wheel from radially shifting relative to the shaft of the motor.

摘要: A system for connecting a wheel rim to a hub flange of a motor vehicle, having a fastener such a threaded nut or bolt, and a tool which engages the fastener in a positive-locking manner in order to tighten or release the fastener. To provide improved protection against theft of wheel rims and tires, the fastener has an annular groove extending axially from an end surface of the fastener, the groove having an annular base and inner and outer sidewalls shaped to form an undercut wider than an opening of the groove, a recess extending axially below the base for receiving a projection of a complementally-shaped key on the tool to allow rotation of the fastener. The undercut prevents an unauthorized person using a mold-making material, from being able to make an imprint of the groove and producing a tool therefrom to release the fastener.

摘要: A universal axle-hub assembly is provided for an off-road vehicle. The universal axle-hub assembly comprises a wheel hub that receives a constant velocity (CV) axle snout into an opening extending through an axle support of the wheel hub. An outboard-most portion of the opening is a splined portion that engages with similar splines disposed on an outboard-most portion of the CV axle snout. An inboard-most portion of the opening is a smooth portion that receives a smooth portion of the CV axle snout. The axle support extends through an entirety of the width of a bearing that supports the wheel hub, such that the bearing supports the smooth portion of the CV axle snout and substantially eliminates shear forces acting on the splined portion of the CV axle snout. A bearing carrier supports the bearing and may be fastened onto a trailing arm or a spindle of the off-road vehicle.
