The fine particle powder is a powder flowability improver which does not cause die stains and the powdered resin composition for slush molding containing the fine powder do not cause staining of molds.

The present invention provides a material for slush molding which is improved in melt properties during slush molding and is excellent in heat resistance, the material being made up of a thermoplastic polyurethane resin (A) the difference between the softening starting temperature (STi) and the softening ending temperature by TMA being from 0 to 30° C., and STi being 135 to 200° C. The resin (A) has a hard segment with an Mn of 200 to 2000 comprising a diisocyanate having a symmetrical structure, a low molecular-weight diamine having a symmetrical structure, and/or a low molecular-weight diol, the content of which being from 5 to 50 wt %, and a soft segment making up of a high molecular-weight diol with an Mn of 500 to 5000, with the aromatic content being 35 wt % or less and the aromatic ring content x and the urea group content y satisfying −0.1x+2.5≦y≦−0.1x+6.

A process for producing a thermoplastic polyurethane film by means of sintering a particulate thermoplastic polyurethane in a heated mold, is described. The thermoplastic polyurethane has: (i) a melt index of 20 to 100, measured at 190° C. and under an applied force of 21.2 N; (ii) a relative solution viscosity of 1.15 to 1.45, the relative solution viscosity being determined by, measuring the viscosity (a) of a solution of 0.4 grams of the thermoplastic polyurethane in 99.7 grams N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone containing 0.1% dibutylamine at 25° C., measuring the viscosity (b) of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone containing 0.1% dibutylamine at 25° C., and dividing viscosity (a) by viscosity (b); and (iii) a Shore hardness of 80 to 98.

A process for producing a polycarbodiimide resin powder, which includes reacting an organic diisocyanate in the presence of a carbodiimidization catalyst in a solvent to produce a polycarbodiimide resin and obtaining the resin in a powder form, where the organic diisocyanate is represented by the following formula ##STR1## where R.sub.1 is a lower alkyl group or a lower alkoxyl group, or ##STR2## where R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are independently a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group or a lower alkoxyl group, and X is an oxygen atom or a methylene group, or ##STR3## where R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are independently a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group or a lower alkoxyl group; the solvent is a mixed solvent of a good solvent to polycarbodiimide resin and a poor solvent to the resin, having a precipitation number of 30-80; and when the reaction has reached a certain stage, the reaction system is cooled to make the system a slurry of a polycarbodiimide, and then the polycarbodiimide is obtained in a powder form.

The present invention relates to the preparation of powdered heat-curable reaction mixtures in which melt suspension of (a) solid polyisocyanates having melting points above about 60.degree. C., (b) molten high molecular weight isocyanate-reactive compounds having molecular weights of from 400 to 10,000 that have melting or softening points of 50.degree. C. to 150.degree. C., and (c) optionally, solid or liquid low molecular weight chain-extending or crosslinking compounds having molecular weights of from 62 to 399, are added to an inert solvent containing an emulsifier, thereby forming powdered heat-curable reaction mixtures in which components (a), (b), and (c) remain in uncrossedlinked form. The invention further relates to the use of the heat-curing reaction mixtures for the preparation of high-quality polyurethane polyurea plastics.

Polyurethane polyether-based elastomers are described which are thermoplastic, recyclable and have increased high temperature resistance which permits fabrication by injection molding. The elastomers are the product of reaction of 4,4'-methylenebis(phenyl isocyanate), a particular group of polypropylene oxide-polyethylene oxide block copolymers and an extender [straight chain aliphatic diols C.sub.2-6 or the bis(2-hydroxyethyl ether) of hydroquinone or resorcinol]. The block copolymers have at least 50 percent primary hydroxyl groups, a pH in the range of 4.5 to 9, a content of alkali metal ion less than 25 ppm and a molecular weight of 1000 to 3000. The minimum ethylene oxide (E.O.) residue content (percent by weight) of the polyether for any molecular weight (M.W.) is governed by the equation: ##EQU1## In a particularly preferred embodiment the elastomers are prepared by replacing up to 25 percent by equivalents of the extender by certain diols (polyethylene glycols up to 1500 M.W. preferred).
