摘要: To simplify the process of preparing microscope slides, an automatic staining apparatus is disclosed. The disclosed automatic staining apparatus comprises an electromechanical automatic staining device that is coupled to a personal computer system using an interface card. An autostainer control program runs on the personal computer system. The autostainer control program allows a user to simply program the automatic staining apparatus using simple commands entered in the graphical user interface. The autostainer control program includes several features that simplify the programming such as safeguards that ensure compatible reagents are being used; automatic buffer solution requirement calculator; and the ability to determine optimal staining procedure. The electromechanical automatic staining device includes features such as dual waste bins for hazardous and nonhazardous waste storage, an automatic dispenser cleansing system; and a slide clip that minimizes capillary effect.

摘要: An apparatus comprising a reagent atomization and delivery system. In one embodiment, a reagent atomization and delivery system includes an atomizer that uniformly and simultaneously delivers a spray of atomized reagent toward a plurality of reagent receiving sites on a specimen plate. The reagent atomization and delivery system is advantageously used in conjunction with an imaging system (e.g., visible-spectrum, infrared-spectrum, etc.). Specifically, once the atomized reagent is dispensed, it triggers chemical/physiological reactions that are then advantageously subjected to imaging analysis (e.g., visible-spectrum imaging, infrared spectrum imaging, etc.).

摘要: In a testing system for chemical substances or substance mixtures, especially for potential plant protection compositions, the chemical substance to be tested or the substance mixture to be tested is applied to a test specimen, especially to plants or parts of plants. When a predetermined period of time has elapsed, the test specimen is examined for the activity of the substance or substance mixture. For this purpose, first of all a type of test specimen is selected from a stock of test specimens, and the substances to be tested are selected from a stock of substances to be tested. The selected type of test specimen and the selected substances are identified (BC1, BC2) by means of a machine-readable code and those codes are supplied to a memory unit (12). The test specimens are placed in readiness in a carrier plate (30), for which purpose each test specimen or a section (BR) of test specimen is deposited in a well (300) that is provided in the carrier plate (30) and that is partly filled with a nutrient solution (301). Then a spraying device (150, 151) is inserted into the well (300) of the carrier plate (30) and sprays the test specimen deposited therein with the selected substance and is then removed from the well (300) again or the spraying device is positioned immediately above the well (300) of the carrier plate (30) and sprays the test specimen deposited therein with the selected substance.

摘要: A method of assembly of a fluid dispenser of an apparatus for an automated biological reaction system is provided. In the processing of a biological reaction system, there is a need for consistently placing an amount of fluid on a slide. In order to accomplish this, several methods are used including a consistency pulse and a volume adjust means. Moreover, in order to reliably operate an automated biological reaction system, the dispenser must be reliable, easy to assemble and accurate. Among other things, in order to accomplish this, the dispense chamber is substantially in line with the reservoir chamber, the reservoir chamber piston is removed, and the flow of fluid through the dispenser is simplified. Further, in order to operate the automated biological reaction system more reliably, the system is designed in modular pieces with higher functions performed by a host device and the execution of the staining operations performed by remote devices. Also, to reliably catalog data which is used by the automated biological reaction system, data is loaded to a memory device, which in turn is used by the operator to update the operator's databases. The generation of the sequence of steps for the automated biological reaction device based on data loaded by the operator, including checks to determine the ability to complete the run, is provided.
