Abstract: When a client requests a data import job, a remote storage service provider provisions a shippable storage device that will be used to transfer client data from the client to the service provider for import. The service provider generates security information for the data import job, provisions the shippable storage device with the security information, and sends the shippable storage device to the client. The service provider also sends client-keys to the client, separate from the shippable storage device (e.g., via a network). The client receives the device, encrypts the client data and keys, transfers the encrypted data and keys onto the device, and ships it back to the service provider. The remote storage service provider authenticates the storage device, decrypts client-generated keys using the client-keys stored at the storage service provider, decrypts the data using the decrypted client-side generated keys, and imports the decrypted data.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus for receiving a reference to an object located in an environment of a robot, accessing mapping data that indicates, for each of a plurality of object instances, respective probabilities of the object instance being located at one or more locations in the environment, wherein the respective probabilities are based at least on an amount of time that has passed since a prior observation of the object instance was made, identifying one or more particular object instances that correspond to the referenced object, determining, based at least on the mapping data, the respective probabilities of the one or more particular object instances being located at the one or more locations in the environment, selecting, based at least on the respective probabilities, a particular location in the environment where the referenced object is most likely located, and directing the robot to navigate to the particular location.

Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for facilitating international return of dutiable goods. A typical application involves a purchaser buying goods on-line, resulting in shipping the goods internationally to the purchaser. After receipt of the goods, the purchaser determines that return of the goods is necessary. The purchaser contacts the merchant selling the goods to request returning the goods. The merchant, in turn, communicates to the carrier delivering the goods that an international return is requested. The merchant provides certain information to the carrier allowing the carrier to make available the necessary documentation required by the customer to return the goods to the merchant. The documentation includes a properly completed commercial invoice that is made available to the consignee. The consignee can then sign and use the documentation for returning the item. The documentation may be variously provided to the customer either by the merchant or the carrier.

The controller generates commands for the pick device to build the pallet load from the load structure determined by the pallet load generator.

In certain embodiments, using mobile device geolocation data, a freight movement database is created which may contain thousands of records each day describing in detail inferred individual freight movements. For example, each record in a freight movement database may contain information about origins, stops, and/or destinations such as dates, times, and locations of freight stops and movements. In certain embodiments, mobile device geolocation is used to create, maintain, and use a freight movement database. Such a freight movement database fills an important need in the industry because of the current lack of comprehensive and reliable information related to freight movements.

Abstract: The method and system can include freezer and refrigeration units that are equipped with thermostats or modules for controlling and monitoring the temperatures inside the units. The thermostats may be communicatively coupled to a printer used for inventory labeling and date information. The thermostats may also include a variety of alarms that may be triggered. The method and system may provide a label that shows that any food products stored in the refrigeration and freezer units was maintained at a predetermined or desired temperature range during the storage period. The label can thus provide an indicator of “freshness” where one or more indicia may be printed thereon showing that the food product was properly stored, a temperature range during the storage period, duration of the storage period, expected shelf life of the food product, and the like.

Abstract: A system for displaying information to drivers of taxis in an operating region that has a plurality of popular destinations includes a display device fixed within each taxi. The display device includes a plurality of selectable information screens that are each adapted to display information received by a transceiver of the display device. A dispatch information system is adapted to transmit dispatching data of the operating region to the display devices of each taxi. A queue information device associated with each of the popular destinations is adapted to transmit queue information to the dispatching information system. Preferably at least one of the selectable information screens includes a map of the operating region, which may be separated into different grids each having a queue length aggregate indicator that indicates the average load time of all of the taxi queues of the popular destinations within that grid.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for evaluating a food product using images of the food product, according to one embodiment, includes receiving images of a food product taken at different points of a supply chain of the food product. An environmental condition near or on the food product at at least some of the different points of the supply chain is also received. The food product is evaluated using the image interpretations and the environmental conditions for determining a characteristic of the food product selected from the group of characteristics consisting of: a quality of the food product and a remaining shelf life of the food product. An action is taken based at least in part on the evaluation of the food product.
