Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a single platform that provides controller functionality for each of security, monitoring and automation, as well as providing a capacity to function as a bidirectional internet gateway. Embodiments of the present invention provide such functionality by virtue of a configurable architecture that enables a user to adapt the system for the user's specific needs. Embodiments of the present invention further provide for a software-based installation workflow to activate and provision the controller and associated sensors and network. Embodiments of the present invention also provide for downloading of previously-stored configuration data to the controller from a remote server, and for activation and provisioning of the controller from the previously-stored configuration data.

Abstract: Some embodiments are directed to a lockdown apparatus for facilitating initiation of lockdown procedures at a facility that includes multiple doors and is configured for occupation by facility occupants. A lockdown actuator is disposed at the facility and configured to initiate transmission of a lockdown initiation signal upon being actuated, the lockdown actuator being configured to be recognizably distinguishable from the fire alarm actuator. A lockdown communicator is configured to produce a lockdown initiation communication for communicating initiation of lockdown procedures to the facility occupants and individuals not disposed proximate the facility upon transmission of the lockdown initiation signal, the lockdown initiation communication being recognizably distinguishable from the fire alarm communication. A display is configured to indicate status of each of the multiple doors of the facility upon transmission of the lockdown initiation signal, the status including at least one of open versus closed, and locked versus unlocked.

Abstract: An integrated system includes a system user interface (SUI) that provides an iconic, at-a-glance representation of integrated security system status. The SUI is for use across all client devices including mobile or cellular telephones, a mobile portal, a web portal, and a touchscreen device. The SUI includes a number of display elements presented across all types of client devices for monitoring status of the integrated security system. The display elements of the SUI include an orb icon, text summary, security button, device warnings, system warnings, interesting sensors, and quiet sensors. The SUI thus provides system status summary information agnostically across all clients. Additionally, the SUI provides consistent iconography, terminology, and display rules across all clients as well as consistent sensor and system detail across clients.
