    摘要: An internal molding having a predetermined shape of a hollow portion of a manifold is integrally molded by blow molding or the like, and external molding elements having a predetermined shape of the exterior of the manifold and being split into a plurality of parts are molded. The internal molding is integrated with the external molding elements by adhesion or fusion. Further, an external molding is molded, and an internal molding having a shape substantially identical with or smaller than a predetermined shape of a hollow portion of the hollow resin molding is integrally molded. Then, the internal molding is softened by arranging the internal molding inside the external molding and heating the internal molding, and the inside of the internal molding is thereafter pressurized to cause the internal molding to contact the external molding, so that the internal molding is integrated with the external molding. Still further, an internal molding is integrated with an external molding elements by an appropriate joining means. Then, a flange member is fitted to a first connecting portion formed by the respective external molding elements and the internal molding. Still further, an internal molding is integrated with an external molding elements by an appropriate joining means. Then, a seal member is inserted into a gap portion at an end portion of the hollow resin molding as well as between the external molding and the internal molding.

    摘要: A reduced resistance bead seal is integrally formed on a mounting surface of one of two matingly engageable members to form a leak-free seal between the two members despite any eccentricity or angular variances between the two members. In one embodiment, the reduced resistance bead is formed on an inner conical flange of an inverted flared end of a hollow fluid conduit. The bead presents a deformable surface as a fitting urges the flared end of the conduit into engagement with a conical seat in a receiver where eccentricity or angular variances exist between the flared end of the conduit and the conical seat. A unique method and a unique forming tool are used to form the reduced resistance bead in the flared end of the conduit simultaneously with the flaring of the end of the conduit.

    摘要: A fastener assembly, a fastener assembly assembled to a member, and a method of attaching a fastener assembly to a member is disclosed. The fastener assembly includes a male fastener element which is fastened to a female fastener element wherein the male fastener element is adapted to engage and pierce through a panel. The female fastener element is adapted to rivet itself to the panel thereby forming a secure mechanical interlock between the female fastener and the panel. In a preferred embodiment, the female and male fastener include threaded surfaces which cooperatively engage one another thereby permitting the male fastener to be easily removed and used to fasten a structural member, or the like to the female fastener/panel assembly. While the fastener assembly is particularly suited for self-piercing applications, it may be used equally well in pre-pierced panel applications.

    摘要: A method of upsetting and flaring a thin-walled metal tubular probe with one closed end onto a non-metallic plate in a single tooling set-up. The closed end of the tubing probe is inserted in a hole in the plate and a mandrel inserted in the open end of the tube and spring biased to register against the interior of the closed end of the tube which has an anvil washer received thereover which supports the tube wall. A pilot tool is registered against the closed end of the tube; and, an annular tool is received over the mandrel and registers against the open end of the tube. With the annular tool supporting axially the open end of the tube, the pilot tool is moved against the closed end of the tube and bulges a portion of the tube in a recess provided in the plate or in the anvil washer against one side of the plate. The annular tool is then moved axially to flare the open end of the tube against the opposite side of the plate.
