    摘要: Spreader roll for a fabric in a paper machine, the spreader roll being supported at the middle of thereof and comprising an inner tube and an outer tube attached onto the inner tube through an intermediate part. The inner tube and the outer tube are substantially coaxial with one another when the roll is in an unbent state. Annular intermediate spaces are situated between the tubular parts at both sides of the intermediate part, the intermediate spaces being dimensioned so they permit deflection of the inner tube and the outer tube relative to one another when the fabric passing over the roll is being tensioned. Ends or end flanges are situated at the outer end of the inner tube, along with axle journals. The double mantle of the roll with the intermediate part thereof is composed of a piece of reinforced plastic made as a substantially single, unified piece, in which the outer tube and the inner tube are integrally connected through the intermediate portion, without joints. The double mantle of the spreader roll with the intermediate part thereof is made, e.g., of epoxy plastic reinforced with carbon fibre. Moreover, a method is provided for the manufacture of the spreader roll.

    摘要: The present invention discloses an industrial digit glove comprising a hollow tubular-shaped body knitted from a high-tenacity fiber of aramid and nylon yarn wound so as to cover a core of stainless steel wire and spun aramid fiber yarn, and a digit-gripping section at the open end of said holow tubular-shaped body which is rubber-impregnated to prevent the glove from loosening from the finger. This industrial digit glove is manufactured by means of a first process whereby a hollow tubular-shaped body of the required length is knitted using a high-tenacity fiber formed by winding aramid fiber yarn and nylon yarn around a core of stainless steel wire and spun aramid fiber yarn, a second process whereby the curled open end of said hollow tubular-shaped body knitted in the first process is impregnated with fluid rubber, and a third process whereby the hollow tubular-shaped body obtained in the completed second process is hot-air dried. The industrial digit glove of the present invention is preferably manufactured by means of incorporating a fourth process whereby the curled open-ended portion of the tubular-shaped body obtained in the completed third process is removed by cutting and said open end is again impregnated with fluid rubber and hot-air dried.

    摘要: An improved prosthesis construction in a femoral-side hip joint replacement device of the type having an elongate curved stem held within an intramedullary cavity in a femur, and a neck supporting a ball-like joint member at the femur's proximal end. The construction includes an elongate polymer core containing continuous-filament fibers oriented substantially along the length of the core. The core contains the neck, an elongate distal stem whose cross-sectional area is less than about one-quarter that of the neck, and a tapered sections which mates the neck to the stem. A polymer skin fused to and covering the stem and tapered section of the core is shaped and dimensioned to conform to and fill the bone cavity. A braided sheath encases the stem and tapered sections of the core and it embedded in the polymer skin adjacent the core. The filaments which made up the braid in the sheath encircle the core in a helical pattern extending along the stem and tapered section provided resistance to torsional stresses on the stem. Also disclosed are novel methods for making the prosthesis construction.

    摘要: A process of forming a gasket with a minimal production of waste material is disclosed. A suitable fiber is mixed with a binder in water to form a fiber-binder aqueous mixture. The mixture is then deposited on a screen in a predetermined pattern to form a gasket preform with apertures in predetermined locations therein. The gasket preform is subsequently dewatered and cured. The gasket preform can be provided with differential thicknesses and preformed inserts to impart, respectively, selective control of the sealing capability of and reinforcement to the resulting gasket.
