摘要: An illumination apparatus includes an illumination optical system configured to illuminate a light modulation element; a plurality of light source units each including a fluorescent member, at least one light source, and a light-guiding optical system; and an optical-path combining system. A predetermined region in an area where light source images are formed by the illumination optical system using light beams from the optical-path combining system is defined as an effective region, and the number of the light source units is denoted by N. In this case, the light source images and N subregions obtained by dividing the effective region by N along a first side direction of the effective region or a second side direction orthogonal to the first side direction satisfy a predetermined relation.

This provides for a compact LED luminaire.

摘要: In one embodiment, an LED lamp has a generally bulb shape. The LEDs are low power types and are encapsulated in thin, narrow, flexible strips. The LEDs are connected in series in the strips to drop a desired voltage. The strips are affixed to the outer surface of a bulb form to provide structure to the lamp. The strips are connected in parallel to a power supply, which may be housed in the lamp. Since many low power LEDs are used and are spread out over a large surface area, there is no need for a large metal heat sink. Further, the light emission is similar to that of an incandescent bulb. In other embodiment, there is no bulb form and the strips are bendable to have a variety of shapes. In another embodiment, a light sheet is bent to provide 360 degrees of light emission. Many other embodiments are described.

摘要: An optical system is provided having a first optical element for directing LED light received outwards, and two second optical elements each disposed to receive a portion of the light from a different one of two opposing ends of the first optical element so that the second optical elements redirects such portion of the light received outwards. Light from the optical system is preferably collimated along a first dimension, and non-collimated along a second dimension perpendicular to the first dimension. The first optical element and second optical elements are disposed in an integrated structure to facilitate mounting of the optical system upon a circuit board having LEDs which provide light to the first optical element. A light bar is also provided having multiple sets of LEDs on circuit boards, where each set provides light to a different one of the optical systems.
