Abstract:
Apparatus for independently controlling the cutoff of electron beam current in each of a plurality of electron guns in a color kinescope. The bias voltage that is applied to the cathode of each gun is dependent upon the peak-to-average value of separate controllable pulses supplied to each of the drive circuits of the respective cathodes. The pulse control circuits are operable to provide independent control of the kinescope bias voltage without otherwise affecting operation of the cathode drive circuits. The above apparatus is adjusted during the initial set up of the cutoff biasing potential of the cathodes of the kinescope to insure correct color balance of the guns; that is, to insure that current from each of the cathodes is cutoff at the same time during black or blanking signals and that simultaneous cut-off of all cathodes is relatively independent of fluctuations in line voltage.
Abstract:
AN EPITAXIAL LAYER OF GALLIUM NITRIDE IS DEPOSITED FROM A MELT CONTAINING A SMALL CONCENTRATION OF GALLIUM AND A LARGE CONCENTRATION OF A METAL OR MIXTURE OF METALS WHICH DO NOT FORM A STABLE COMPOUND WITH NITROGEN. THE MELT IS SUBJECTED TO AN ATMOSPHERE CONTAINING NITROGEN SO AS TO FORM GALLIUM NITRITE IN THE MELT. A SUBSTRATE IS BROUGHT INTO CONTACT WITH THE GALLIUM NITRITE CONTAINING MELT AND THE MELT IS COOLED TO DEPOSIT GALLIUM NITRITE FROM THE MELT ONTO THE SUBSTRATE. THE SUBSTRATE IS THEN SEPARATED FROM THE MELT.
Abstract:
A squelch tail eliminator for use in a receiver having a continuous tone coded squelch system and provision for the disabling of the tone coded squelch system is disclosed. A pulse generator, responsive to the discontinuance of a given tone, generates a gating pulse that inhibits the disabling of the tone coded squelch system for the time duration of that pulse, providing squelch tail elimination at the end of a message transmission indicated by the discontinuance of the tone.
Abstract:
The memory element makes use of two transferred electron devices, at least one of which is notched. The transferred electron devices are connected in a feedback arrangement in order to trigger one another. The memory element can be used for processing extremely high speed signals.
Abstract:
The device includes a sub-assembly comprising a solid member of insulating material and a number of electronic devices disposed within openings through the solid member. Lead wires of the components extend outwardly of the openings and into holes through a pair of printed circuit board members mounted on opposite sides of the solid member, the lead wires being soldered to various conductive paths on the circuit boards. Spring clips are used to clamp the circuit boards against the solid member, the clips being soldered to various ones of the conductive paths. Semiconductor chips are mounted on the circuit boards after the solder operations, and the sub-assembly is mounted on the terminal leads of a header by welding the leads to various ones of the spring clips.
Abstract:
A limiter for the track gate rate of movement of a target being tracked by a radar system. The movement of the track gate is limited to a small increment, such as + OR - 1/120 nautical miles, between consecutive probe pulses requiring also that a target response must be in fact received in order to produce movement of the track gate. The probability that the track gate will be ''''pulled-off'''' a valid target by false targets or other noise is reduced significantly. Particularly suitable for a midair collision avoidance system such as SECANT.
Abstract:
A computer for determining range rate in knots of a target being tracked by a radar system. The range rate is determined from any change in target range that occurs during a tracking period. Statistical smoothing is used to increase accuracy of the calculated range rate. This is achieved by summing and storing the target range count for a first and third portion of a full track period and interrupting the summing and storing step for an intermediate second portion of the track period. The difference of the first and third range count is divided by an appropriate conversion factor to determine the range rate and also the polarity relation indicating an approaching or departing target. Particularly suitable for a midair collision avoidance system such as SECANT.
Abstract:
A transformerless coupled driver-to-output stage deflection circuit in which initial driver stage operating current is obtained from a relatively high voltage receiver power supply to initiate operation of the deflection circuit. A relatively low voltage supply is derived from the deflection output stage and coupled to the driver stage such that the greater portion of the driver stage operating current is supplied by the relatively low voltage supply during normal operation.

METHOD OF MAKING AN ELECTRICAL LEAD CONNECTION TO THE TOP SURFACE OF A PASSIVATION COATED SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICE CHIP MOUNTED ON A SUBSTRATE, WHERE THE LEAD IS A CONDUCTING METAL PATH EXTENDING ACROSS THE SUBSTRATE AND OVER AN EDGE OF THE CHIP, COMPRISING DEPOSITING A FIRST THIN, ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTIVE LAYER OF METAL OVER BOTH SUBSTRATE AND COATED CHIP, COVERING THE FIRST LAYER OF METAL WITH A THICK LAYER OF PHOTORESIST, REMOVING PORTIONS OF PHOTORESISTS LAYER CONFORMING TO THE DESIRED SHAPE OF THE LEAD, ELECTRODEPOSITING A THICK LAYER OF METAL WHERE THE PHOTORESIST HAS BEEN REMOVED, COVERING THE THICK LAYER OF METAL WITH A LAYER OF A MATERIAL WHICH IS RESISTANT TO A PARTICULAR SOLVENT FOR THE FIRST METAL LAYER, AND TREATING THE CHIP AND SUBSTRATE WITH THE SOLVENT TO REMOVE THAT PART OF THE FIRST METAL LAYER NOT COVERED BY THE RESISTANT MATERIAL.
Abstract:
A multi-indicia display device includes a rigid base plate made up of a plurality of sheets of an electrical insulating material laminated together. Electrodes are mounted on the base plate. One of the electrodes is a metal layer coated on the base plate forming a plurality of separate but identical indicia, each indicia comprising a plurality of sections. Metal layer termination pads are coated on the front and back surfaces of the base plate along one edge thereof. Metal film electrical circuitry is coated on the surfaces of the sheets of the base plate and extend through holes in the sheets to electrically connect the electrodes to the termination pads. A transparent cover is mounted on the base plate and extends over the electrodes.
