摘要: A hydrocarbon reformer system including a first reactor configured to generate hydrogen-rich reformate by carrying out at least one of a non-catalytic thermal partial oxidation, a catalytic partial oxidation, a steam reforming, and any combinations thereof, a second reactor in fluid communication with the first reactor to receive the hydrogen-rich reformate, and having a catalyst for promoting a water gas shift reaction in the hydrogen-rich reformate, and a heat exchanger having a first mass of two-phase water therein and configured to exchange heat between the two-phase water and the hydrogen-rich reformate in the second reactor, the heat exchanger being in fluid communication with the first reactor so as to supply steam to the first reactor as a reactant is disclosed. The disclosed reformer includes an auxiliary reactor configured to generate heated water/steam and being in fluid communication with the heat exchanger of the second reactor to supply the heated water/steam to the heat exchanger.

摘要: Sorting apparatus has a conveyor belt or equivalent mechanism for moving particles at a speed sufficient to generate a stream of particles in air, which particles can be graded such that selected material can be removed. The grading or sorting is conducted by a primary scanning system for analysing light reflected from particles in the stream in a plurality of wavelength ranges. Ejectors for removing particles from the stream are disposed downstream of the scanning system, and are instructed in response to signals received from the scanning system. An auxiliary scanning system is also included to establish the presence of material in the stream, and in the event that a void is detected in a given region, then the analysis of that region by the primary scanning system and any corresponding activation of the ejectors is inhibited. If the auxiliary scanning system operates on the basis of light transmitted in the infra-red wavelength, then the scanning system can differentiate between a situation in which it is receiving light reflected from a product piece in a product stream, and light transmitted across the path of the product stream in the absence of a product piece therefrom. By this means, the monitoring of light received from the path of the product stream in the infra-red range can be used to perform all functions.

摘要: A method and a plant for rolling hot-rolled wide strip from continuously cast thin slabs of ferritic/pearlitic microalloyed structural steels with a microalloy with vanadium and/or with niobium and/or with titanium in a CSP plant or compact strip production plant, wherein the cast slab strand is supplied divided into rolling lengths through an equalizing furnace to a multiple-stand CSP rolling train and is continuously rolled in the CSP rolling train into hot-rolled wide strip, is then cooled in a cooling stretch and is reeled into coils. For achieving optimum mechanical properties in hot-rolled wide strip by thermomechanical rolling, a controlled structure development is carried out when the thin slabs travel through the CSP plant.

摘要: A binding line having selectable pin spacing on a gathering chain includes a gathering section including the gathering chain having a plurality of spaced pusher pins for transporting gathered signatures seriatim therealong to a signature exit end. A stitcher section includes a stitcher chain having a plurality of spaced pusher pins for transporting signatures seriatim therealong from a signature entry end. A drive system provides for driving the gathering chain synchronously with the stitcher chain so that both the gathering section and stitcher section operate at a constant signature feed rate. The gathering chain pins are spaced apart a first select distance and the stitcher chain pins are spaced apart a second select distance, different from the first select distance. The drive system drives the gathering chain at a different velocity from the stitcher chain to provide the constant signature feed rate. A transfer section includes a fixed saddle plate extending between the gathering section exit end and the stitcher section entry end and an endless overhead chain having a plurality of spaced pusher pins. A belt drive system includes a timing belt extending between a drive pulley and a driven pulley. The drive pulley is operatively coupled to the first drive system and the driven pulley is operatively coupled to the overhead chain. An idler pulley and cam mechanism are each operatively associated with the timing belt. The cam mechanism cyclically, reciprocally moves the idler pulley generally toward and away from a center line of the driven pulley to pulse velocity of the driven pulley, and thus the overhead chain, approximately between the velocities of the gathering section and the stitcher section so that when a signature is delivered to the saddle plate from the gathering chain, one of the pusher pins begins pushing a signature at a velocity similar to velocity of the gathering chain and then rapidly varies velocity of the overhead chain, so that when a signature is delivered to the stitcher section from the saddle plate, the pusher pin is pushing the signature at a velocity similar to velocity of the stitcher chain.

摘要: An insulating board has a polymeric reinforcement layer of fibrous material with a predetermined dielectric constant. A polymer is impregnated into said reinforcement layer and has a dielectric constant which is close to that of the dielectric constant of said fibrous material and the insulating board exhibits isotropic properties. A preselected desired dielectric constant or loss tangent can be built into the board by selection of fillers to preselect the dielectric constant or loss tangent without detracting from desired mechanical properties of the board.

摘要: A substituted benzene compound of the following formula was found to protect an insect pheromone against ultraviolet (UV) radiation degradation ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is H or alkoxy group of 1 to 2 carbon atoms, R.sub.2 is H or phenyl group, R.sub.3 is H, CN, or methylcarboxy group, R.sub.4 is alkyl group of 1 to 2 carbon atoms of straight chain or 2 to 6 carbon atoms with .beta.-substitution of alkyl or alkoxy group of 1 to 2 carbon atoms or .alpha.- and .beta.-OH substitutions. The UV absorbing compounds of the preceding formula significantly extended the biological activity and quality of the pheromone while at the same time remaining nontoxic to the insect and nondestructive of the environment.
