摘要: A device for determining the distance between vehicles according to this invention is used with a vehicle for determining the distance to a vehicle ahead of the device-equipped vehicle moving on a traffic lane defined by lines drawn on a road. The device comprises a pair of light receivers each having at least one light sensor array, a line detector for detecting images at points at which the quantity of light takes maximum values on the light sensor array of at least one of the light receivers as the lines and providing an output signal representing the positions of the lines, a measuring range detector responsive to the output signal of the line detector for detecting a range of the traffic lane on which the device-equipped vehicle is moving; and a distance detector for determining the distance to the vehicle ahead on the basis of positions where an image of the vehicle ahead is formed on the light sensor array within the range of the traffic lane detected by the measuring range detector.

摘要: A phase-shifting mask having a phase-shifting portion for shifting the phase of a transmission light on both of one surface and another surface of a transparent substrate. In a preferred embodiment, at least a portion of the phase-shifting portion on one surface overlaps with at least one portion of the phase-shifting portion on the other surface. The phase-shifting mask is applicable both to negative and positive type masks and can be formed easily with no problems, such as reduction of the transmittance and close contact.

摘要: The present invention provides an earthquake resistant multi-story building which is characterized by having an energy concentration story. The energy concentration story has an elasto-plastic force-displacement relationship regarding horizontal force and displacement. The force-displacement relationship is characterized in that: (a) stiffness in elastic range (F.sub.y /d.sub.y) is generally equal to an optimal stiffness of the same story according to an elastic design concept; (b) the yield strength F.sub.y is generally less than 80% of an optimum yield strength; (c) stiffness in plastic range is positive and generally less than about a half of the stiffness in the elastic range; and (d) ultimate displacement is generally at least twice as large as the yield displacement. The energy concentration story is capable of entering into the plastic range while other stories are in the elastic range, and absorbing vibration energy by plastic deformations thereof so as to decrease deformations of other stories when a large external force is exerted to the building.

A main laser beam emitted from the semiconductor laser is split into two beams by the beam splitter. The monitor photodiode is disposed to receive one of the beams and generates a monitor signal. In response to the monitor signal, the automatic laser power control circuit controls the semiconductor laser intensity.

摘要: In a walking assistance device (10) that can transmit the power generated by a power generator (26, 28) to a femoral part of a user, a swing arm (60, 62) is attached to an output member of the power generator at a base end thereof, and is connected to a femoral support plate (68, 70) at a free end thereof via a pivot joint (64). The pivot joint includes a spherical projection (100) provided on the free end of the swing arm and a socket (112) provided on the femoral support plate, the socket defining a spherical recess (110) configured to receive the spherical projection to permit a tilting movement of the femoral support plate at least in two directions with respect to the free end of the swing arm. Thereby, the femoral support plate is enabled to accommodate the build and/or the movement of the femoral part of the user.

摘要: A pelvic frame (20) for a walking assistance device (10) is configured to be worn on a pelvic part of a user, and comprises a main frame (22) extending from a lower back of the user to either side of the user, an abdominal belt (30) attached to the main frame at base ends thereof, extending along an inner periphery of the main frame (22) and configured to be detachably passed along an abdominal part of the user, and a pair of stabilizer member (90, 92) each having a base end attached to a free end part of the main frame (22) and a free end engaging the abdominal belt (30). Because the two free end of the main frame (22) are joined by the stabilizer members (90, 92) in cooperation with the abdominal belt (30), the stiffness and mechanical strength of the main frame (22) is effectively enhanced, and the weight of the main frame and material cost can be minimized. Also, the deformation of the pelvic frame (20) during use can be minimized, and this contributes to the comfort of the user. Also, as the stabilizer members (90, 92) hold up the corresponding parts of the abdominal belt (30) in readily accessible positions in spite of the flexibility of the abdominal belt (30), the wearing and removing of the pelvic frame (20) is simplified.
