Abstract:
An oil filter module may include a casing and a filter therein. The oil filter module may also include a cap coupled to the casing, and including a drain nipple protruding downward from a portion of the cap corresponding to a bottom support plate of the filter with a drain hole formed in the drain nipple. The oil filter module may further include a drain pin coupled to the drain nipple so as to be removable so that the drain hole is open or closed by the drain pin. A rotation groove having a rotating axis of the casing may be formed in a lower surface of the bottom support plate. The drain hole may be formed at a position corresponding to the rotation groove, and the drain pin may be seated at one end thereof onto a bottom of the rotation groove when the drain pin is coupled to the drain nipple.
Abstract:
An apparatus having a threaded bottom assembly for interfacing to connect the bottom assembly to a second structure with threads, having a bi-stable element that, when sufficient force is applied via the process of threading the bottom assembly to the second structure, and at an appropriate torque value, passes from its first minima state, through its maxima state, and to its second minima state, creating a tactile or audible indication that the apparatus has been properly installed.
Abstract:
A liquid filter arrangement is provided, as well as methods of assembly and use. Advantageous features, relating to a preferred filter cartridge and a preferred slide arrangement, are provided.
Abstract:
Modular pure water systems are provided that have a tank and a cover assembly, wherein the tank and cover assembly are configured to removably receive therebetween one or more expansion tubes in a fluid tight manner to allow for selective volume expansion of the pure water system. Also provided are purification media bags for pure water systems that have a shape, construction, and/or material that mitigates the flow of water between the outer wall of the bag and an inner wall of the pure water systems.
Abstract:
A fluid filtering apparatus and method may include keyed components to ensure that a correct filter element is being installed into a filter base. Keyed arrangements may occur between a filter element and a filter housing, a filter and a filter base, and a filter base and a filter housing. A locking arrangement may be provided to prevent undesired loosening of a filter relative to a filter base. The filter base may include a torsion lock insert that engages lock detents of a filter to prevent the undesired loosening. An adaptor may be provided to provide the lock detents that interact with a torsion lock insert.
Abstract:
Provided is a filter element having an annular resilient sealing device having a bead that undulates axially back and forth for mating with a correspondingly undulating top surface of a base in a filter assembly. The undulating bead provides for a fluid tight seal while restricting relative rotation of the filter element relative to the base.
Abstract:
A filter cartridge in accordance with the present disclosure has a longitudinal axis and comprises a housing, a filter element, and a collar. The housing has a generally cylindrical sidewall and defines an open first end, an axially opposite second end, and a flange projecting radially away from the axis at the first end. The filter element has a ring of filter media circumscribing the axis and extending between first and second end caps. The first end cap has a generally cylindrical wall extending axially between first and second peripheral rims. The wall defines first and second seal glands adjacent the first and second rims which receive first and second seal members, respectively. A ledge projects radially outwardly from the cylindrical wall. The collar has an annular sidewall having a shoulder projecting from an inner surface. The ledge and the shoulder radially overlap and retain the flange therebetween.
Abstract:
A method of installing a filter unit includes aligning a filter unit into a filter head assembly. The filter unit includes a laterally extending key member and an engagement protrusion. The engagement protrusion includes a first portion that has a first radius of curvature and a second portion opposing the first portion that has a second radius of curvature larger than the first radius of curvature. The laterally extending key member is aligned into a key slot in the filter head assembly. An engagement surface is aligned on the filter unit into a complementary engagement surface on the filter head assembly. The filter unit is rotatingly inserted into the filter head assembly. The laterally extending key member shifts an interference member on the filter head assembly from an interference position, wherein the filter unit cannot sealingly engage the filter head assembly, to a non-interference position, wherein the filter unit can sealingly engage the filter head assembly.
Abstract:
An air cleaner having a housing body and a removable cover and a filter element, in which the cover and the filter element rotationally interfere with each other by engagement between an inside surface of the cover and an outer radial periphery of the filter element. A filter element includes a pair of end caps, filter media, and an outer wall on the end cap circumscribing the filter media, in which the outer wall is non-circular. A method of installing a filter element into a housing includes orienting a cover over an element and a housing body by engaging an inside surface of the cover and an outer radial periphery of the filter element to rotationally interfere with each other.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the technology disclosed herein include disposable filter cartridges for use with a water dispenser that dispenses hot water, flavored water, and chilled, sparkling water. An exemplary filter cartridge may be assembled by screwing or inserting a filter into filter cap until the filter cap engages a lock, such as an agnail lock, on the filter. Once engaged, the lock permanently secures the filter to the filter cap without adhesives, heat treatment, or curing. The filter cartridge includes one or more protrusions, or partial flanges, that twist into a recess formed by an injection-molded, two-piece locking assembly affixed to the water dispenser. Twisting the filter cartridge to a predetermined angle with respect to the locking assembly locks the filter cartridge into place. In some embodiments, the locking assembly and the filter cartridge audibly “click” or “snap” to indicate that they are secured together.
