Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and an apparatus for mixing and atomizing a hydrocarbon stream using a diluent/dispersion stream. In one embodiment, the apparatus comprises: an inner conduit and an outer conduit concentric to each other to define an annular space, said outer conduit having an inlet for receiving the hydrocarbon stream and an outlet for dispensing a mixture comprising the hydrocarbon and the dispersion/diluent streams; a diluent/dispersion steam distributor being in connection with the inner conduit and defining a central orifice and a first set of orifices, said first set of orifices adapted to direct a first portion of the dispersion/diluent stream into the annular space and said central orifice adapted to direct a second portion of the diluent/dispersion stream into the inner conduit; at least one contraction member and expansion member, said contraction member located downstream of the first set of orifices and said expansion member located downstream said expansion member; the inner conduit located downstream of said expansion member comprises a second set of orifices, said second set of orifices disposed on a periphery of the inner conduit and adapted to dispense a second portion of the dispersion/diluent stream into the annular space.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a catalyst precursor composition comprising a first component having active sites, said first component being at least one of the surface modified clay and/or pore modified zeolite; and a second component being metal species comprising of at least one metal selected from Group VI B and at least one metal selected from VIII B and the second component is in intimate contact with the active sites of the first component. The present invention also provides a process for preparing the catalyst precursor composition. The present invention also relates to a catalyst composition and process of preparation thereof by using the catalyst precursor. More particularly, the present invention provides a catalyst composition suitable for converting hydrocarbon feeds to diesel range product.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for mixing and atomizing a hydrocarbon stream using a diluent/dispersion stream. The apparatus includes an inner conduit having an inlet for receiving the diluent/dispersion stream; an outer conduit having an inlet for receiving the hydrocarbon stream and an outlet for dispensing a mixture including the hydrocarbon and the dispersion/diluent streams; the outer conduit concentric to the inner conduit to define at least a first annular space and a second annular space; the first annular space being located downstream of the inlet of the outer conduit, the first annular space enabling formation of a thin film of the hydrocarbon stream between an outer surface of the inner conduit and an inner surface of the outer conduit; the second annular space being located downstream of the first annular space, the second annular space having a width greater than a width of the first annular space; and the inner conduit located at about the second annular space includes a first set orifices disposed on a periphery thereof for dispensing a first portion of the dispersion/diluent stream into the thin film of hydrocarbon stream to cross-shear the thin film and form the mixture including the hydrocarbon and the dispersion/diluent streams.

Abstract: The present invention provides an adsorbent for removal of con-carbon and contaminant metals in feed, said adsorbent composition consisting of clay in the range of 30-70 wt. % and silica in the range of 70-30 wt. %, wherein the adsorbent has a pore volume in the range of 0.25-0.45 cc/gm; a pore size in the range of 20 to 2000 Å and a bi-modal pore size distribution characteristics, with a maximum of about 32% of the adsorbent having a pore size in the range of 20-200 Å and a minimum of about 68% of the adsorbent having a pore size in the range of 200-2000 Å. The present invention also provides a process for preparing the said adsorbent.

More specifically the present invention relates to a process of preparing Fluidic Catalytic Cracking (FCC) catalyst additive composition. The FCC catalyst additive composition of the present invention is a LPG selective catalyst particles comprising a medium pore zeolite bonded with clay-phosphate-silica-alumina binder. The catalyst of the present invention exhibits improved selectivity towards high value components like propylene and gasoline and suppressing low value components like dry gas and bottoms.

Abstract: The present invention provides a process and a system for coking and simultaneous upgrading of a heavy hydrocarbon feedstock. More particularly the present invention relates to a process of cracking heavy hydrocarbon feedstock employing high heat carrier, incorporated with weak acid sites for improving the liquid yield and reducing coke yield. The feedstock is vaporized and brought in contact with a heat carrier material to produce a product stream and separating the product stream from the particulate heat carrier, regeneration of the particulate heat carrier to the extent of 10-30% and collecting a gaseous and liquid product from the product stream.
