    Abstract: Technology for improving the selection, transfer, and storage of user equipment (UE) radio capability information is disclosed. A cellular mobile network can be configured to identify radio-access-technology (RAT)-specific radio-capability information relating to RATs supported in the cellular mobile network and communicate the RAT-specific radio-capability information to a UE. The UE can use the RAT-specific radio-capability information to help determine which UE radio capability information to send to the network. In addition, the UE may store a list of supported frequency bands and/or supported frequency-band combinations (LOSB) indexed by network operators and use the list to help determine which UE radio capability information to send to the network. A network node may also selectively remove unnecessary information from UE radio capability information before storing the UE radio capability information at a mobility management entity (MME).

    Abstract: Systems and methods of providing location techniques for a NB UE are described. The UE transmits, to a location server, a capability message that indicates position capabilities of the UE to support different positioning methods and common information related to the position methods, including that the UE is a NB UE. The UE receives a request for location information that includes a request for positioning measurements for a particular positioning method, a NB message size limit that indicates a limit on an amount of location information to return, and a NB response time to provide the positioning measurements. At least one of the response time or message size limit is different than for the NB UE than for non-NB UEs. The UE enters an idle state, performs the measurements, and transmits at expiry of or before the NB response time, a message containing the measurements.

    Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for performing wireless local area network (WLAN) fine timing measurement (FTM) are described. An apparatus for a user equipment (UE) includes a memory to store session information for a long term evolution positioning protocol (LPP) session with a location server. The apparatus for the UE also includes one or more baseband processors to decode a provide assistance data LPP message from the location server as part of the LPP session, the provide assistance data LPP message including WLAN assistance information; identify one or more access points (APs) based on the WLAN assistance information; and determine at least one position measurement based on an FTM procedure with the one or more identified APs.

    Abstract: Embodiments of wireless communication devices and method for discontinuous reception (DRX) mode in RRC_IDLE state of wireless communication are generally described herein. Some of these embodiments describe a wireless communication device having processing circuitry arranged to determine to use an extended paging discontinuous reception (DRX) value to increase a paging cycle length. The wireless communication device may transmit a non-access stratum (NAS) message to the network, indicating that the wireless communication device desires to use the extended paging DRX value. The wireless communication device may receive a message from the network that includes an information element (IE) indicating whether the network supports the extended paging DRX value.
