Abstract:
Embodiments of wireless communication devices and method for discontinuous reception (DRX) mode in wireless communication are generally described herein. Some of these embodiments describe a wireless communication device having processing circuitry arranged to determine to use an extended paging discontinuous reception (DRX) value to increase a paging cycle length above a value and select a first periodicity, based on the extended paging DRX value, at which the UE is to perform evaluation of a parameter of a network in which the UE is opera. The wireless communication device may have physical layer circuitry arranged to transmit a message to the network, indicating that the UE desires to perform evaluation of the parameter at the first periodicity. Other methods and apparatuses are also described.
Abstract:
Embodiments of a system and method for random access and scheduling request for new radio things sidelink are generally described herein. In some embodiments, a nUE (network user equipment) schedules a RA (random access) resource in a control channel. The nUE decodes a TAS (transmitter resource acquisition and sounding) payload, received from a wUE (wearable user equipment) in a PRB (physical resource block) addressed to a RA-ID (random access identifier) associated with the nUE. The nUE encodes, in response to decoding the TAS payload, a RAS (receiver resource acknowledgement and sounding) payload in the PRB. The nUE decodes initial access content received via a data channel from the wUE, the initial access content including a pro posed temp ID (temporary identifier) for addressing the wUE. The nUE encode, in response to the initial access content, an ACK (acknowledgement), addressed to the wUE, to accept initial access of the wUE.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of providing communications between UEs are generally described. A notification resource indicating subsequent transmission of a discovery message is transmitted from a UE to another UE using a discovery ID selected from a limited number of discovery IDs stored in the other UE. The other UE transmits a random access request to the UE having a temporary ID. The UE may not respond if the temporary ID is already used or may transmit data transmission information scrambled by the temporary ID. The other UE transmits a contention resolution PDU to the UE and may receive an ACK to indicate ID contention is not present, or either no response or a NACK to indicate the presence of ID contention. The other UE may either select a new temporary ID or use a backoff timer to retransmit the random access request at a random time.
Abstract:
Embodiments of an enhanced Node B (eNB) and method for RRC connection establishment for small-data transfers in a 3GPP LTE network are generally described herein. The eNB may receive a small-data RRC connection request message from user equipment (UE) that may include an establishment clause value indicating small-data traffic either with or without mobility. The eNB may send an initial UE setup request message to inform the mobility management entity (MME) that a small-data RRC connection is being established. The eNB may receive an acceptance message from the MME for the small-data RRC connection which may include a reduction of an RRC inactivity timer for fast connection release. The eNB may send an RRC connection reconfiguration message to the UE in response to receipt of the acceptance to establish the small-data RRC connection, the RRC connection reconfiguration message including a measurement information element (IE) when mobility is to be supported.
Abstract:
Embodiments of wireless communication devices and method for discontinuous reception (DRX) mode in RRC_IDLE state of wireless communication are generally described herein. Some of these embodiments describe a wireless communication device having processing circuitry arranged to determine to use an extended paging discontinuous reception (DRX) value to increase a paging cycle length. The wireless communication device may transmit a non-access stratum (NAS) message to the network, indicating that the wireless communication device desires to use the extended paging DRX value. The wireless communication device may receive a message from the network that includes an information element (IE) indicating whether the network supports the extended paging DRX value. Other methods and apparatuses are also described.

Abstract:
Devices and methods of paging user equipment (UE) are generally described. An evolved Node-B (eNB) may transmit legacy and extended coverage paging messages having different Paging Radio Network Temporary Identifiers (P-RNTIs) to UEs. Each extended coverage paging message may contain the same information, which coverage constrained UEs may combine to achieve a predetermined link budget and subsequently decode. The coverage constrained UEs may ignore legacy paging messages prior to decoding the legacy paging messages. The extended coverage paging messages may be transmitted in non-legacy paging occasions that may span multiple paging cycles. Each paging cycle may contain 0, 1 or multiple extended coverage paging occasions. The UE may be provided the physical resource blocks (PRBs) used for the extended coverage paging message through a system information message. The PRBs may be assigned as a fixed or semi-statically assigned set of PRBs or a dynamically assigned set of PRBs.
