Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for preparing a material in the form of liquid for forming an antimicrobial surface coating with multi-level antimicrobial properties, comprising: encapsulating one or more volatile or gaseous biocides in two or more amphiphilic block copolymers to obtain a w/o/w double emulsion, and mixing the w/o/w double emulsion with one or more nonvolatile biocides, each of which is selected from the group consisting of a metal containing biocide, triclosan, a carboxylic acid, a sugar acid and a combination thereof.

Abstract:
The ionic liquid-based coating is a coating for both porous and nonporous materials. As non-limiting examples, a porous substrate coated with the ionic liquid-based coating may be used to disinfect and remove microorganisms from air and water, to provide an antimicrobial surface for preventing microbial contamination, or to enhance filtration efficiency of the porous material for airborne and waterborne particulate matter without increasing flow resistance. As a further non-limiting example, a nonporous substrate coated with the ionic liquid-based coating may be used to form a surface capable of self-disinfection from microorganisms contacting surface. The ionic liquid-based coating includes at least one ionic liquid, an adhesive, and at least one additive, which may be a disinfectant, a viscosity modifier, a pH buffer, a fragrance, or combinations thereof.
Abstract:
Transdermal patches and devices for delivery of therapeutic drug and/or cosmetic formulations through an intact or porated skin barrier are described. Active-infusion delivers controlled dosing over a period of time to provide long-term efficacy. Methods and devices for preparing active-infusion patches for controlled dose delivery by nonelectronic devices and methods of skin poration that is safe and painless are described.
Abstract:
A multi-walled titanium-based nanotube array containing metal or non-metal dopants is formed, in which the dopants are in the form of ions, compounds, clusters and particles located on at least one of a surface, inter-wall space and core of the nanotube. The structure can include multiple dopants, in the form of metal or non-metal ions, compounds, clusters or particles. The dopants can be located on one or more of on the surface of the nanotube, the inter-wall space (interlayer) of the nanotube and the core of the nanotube. The nanotubes may be formed by providing a titanium precursor, converting the titanium precursor into titanium-based layered materials to form titanium-based nanosheets, and transforming the titanium-based nanosheets to multi-walled titanium-based nanotubes.
