Abstract: Systems and methods for providing broadband internet access to mobile platforms such as vehicles, aircraft, and portable devices, using a network of one or more entities such as drones/unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). In one embodiment, the drone communication system comprises an antenna sub-system, a radio sub-system and a data switching sub-system. The mobile platforms comprise antenna and radio sub-systems to communicate with the drones, detect changes in the mobile platforms azimuth and elevation changes, and adjust the mobile platform's antenna beam to compensate for the orientation changes to optimally point toward the drones. The exemplary mobile platform further comprises methods to detect the need for handoff to a different drone and to carry out the handoff.

Abstract: Systems and methods configured to form and point beams from one or more unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) toward a target coverage area on the ground. One embodiment describes dividing the target coverage area on the ground among multiple UAVs when each UAV antenna system generates static beams. Another embodiment describes dividing the target coverage area on the ground among multiple UAVs when their antenna systems are capable of dynamically steering their respective beams. Another set of embodiments describe systems and method to allow multiple UAVs to provide service in the same area on the ground using the same spectrum.

Abstract: An Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) comprises a situational awareness system coupled to at least one onboard sensor and senses the location of other UAVs. A cooperative Radio Access Network (RAN)-signal processor is configured to process RAN signals cooperatively with at least one other UAV to increase the rank of the RAN channel and produce RAN performance criteria. A flight controller provides autonomous navigation control of the UAV's flight based on the relative spatial locations of other UAVs and the RAN performance criteria, which operates within predetermined boundaries of navigation criteria. The UAV can employ mitigation tactics against one or more UEs identified as a threat and may coordinate other UAVs to conduct such mitigations.

Abstract: Embodiments include devices and methods for managing network communication of an unmanned autonomous vehicle (UAV). A processor of the UAV may determine an altitude of the UAV. The processor may optionally also determine a speed or vector of the UAV. Based on the determined altitude and/or speed/vector of the UAV, the processor may adjust the communication parameter of the communication link between the UAV and a communication network. The processor may transmit signals based on the adjusted communication parameter, which may reduce radio frequency interference caused by the transmissions of the UAV with the communication network.

Disclosed example methods further include, in response to the first drone not being in communication with the command center via the first communication network, broadcasting, from the first drone, the first message configured with a second value for the configuration parameter different from the first value.

Abstract: Embodiments are provided for deliver multimedia information to a transportation apparatus through a UAV network. After the transportation apparatus enters an area, one or more UAVs may be configured to capture one or more images of an interior of the transportation apparatus. Geographical location of the transportation apparatus can be obtained. Image analysis may be employed to analyze the images to obtain passenger. Based on the geographical information regarding the transportation apparatus, and passenger, specific multimedia information can be determined for presentation to the passenger(s) in the transportation apparatus. The determined multimedia information may include media contents of interest to the passenger(s) and available in the geographical location the transportation apparatus is currently traveling in. The determined multimedia information can be transmitted to transportation apparatus for presentation to the passenger.
