    摘要: An organic solvent based, thermosetting coating composition of a hydroxy functional epoxy-polyester graft copolymer and blocked polyisocyanate crosslinking agent. The coating composition may be formulated as a hot sprayable, high solids coating composition suitable for use as a chip resistant automotive vehicle primer adapted for use on body panel areas subject to chipping by stones, gravel and other road debris. Alternatively, the composition may be formulated as a high solids composition sprayable with conventional spraying equipment. Hydroxy functional epoxy-polyester graft copolymer is prepared by polymerization of lactone monomers in the presence of hydroxy functional epoxy ester resin precursor. Such precursor resin is formed by reaction of diepoxide chain extended substantially simultaneously with diphenol and dicarboxylic acid and chain terminated with acid component comprising primary hydroxy functional acid.

    摘要: An epoxy resin having hydroxyl groups is modified with .epsilon.-caprolactone by effecting the ring opening polymerization of .epsilon.-caprolactone onto the hydroxyl groups contained in the epoxy resin. The modified epoxy resin is further combined with a polycarboxylic anhydride and a promotor for curing, or polyamine to give a curable composition. The modified epoxy resin is further modified by reacting the epoxy groups therein with a primary or secondary amine. Both the modified resin and the compositions are useful as coating.

    摘要: Curable epoxy resin compositions comprise a curing agent, a filler and an epoxy resin obtained by reacting an epihalohydrin in an alkaline medium with a condensation product prepared from a phenol and a cyclic acid anhydride or a dibasic acid capable of forming such a cyclic anhydride under the reaction conditions, the molecular ratio of phenol to cyclic acid anhydride or dibasic acid being at least 2:1. The compositions are moulded under pressure. The preferred epoxy resins are epichlorohydrinphenolphthalein reaction products. Other suitable phenol condensates are cresolphthlein, phenolmalein, thymol sulphophthalein, ortho - cresolsulphophthalein, cresolmalein, phenolsuccinein and phenolnaphthalein. The curing agents may be polycarboxylic acid anhydrides, boron trifluoride complexes and polyamines especially p,p1-di-aminodiphenylmethane. Organic and inorganic fillers may be used.
