摘要: A vehicular propeller shaft is configured to transmit a rotational force output from a drive force source to drive wheels. The vehicular propeller shaft includes a stepped pipe-shaped member including a compressive load weakest part with respect to an axial compressive load of the vehicular propeller shaft and a torsional load weakest part with respect to a torsional load around an axis of the vehicular propeller shaft. The compressive load weakest part and the torsional load weakest part are positioned apart from each other in a radial direction of the stepped pipe-shaped member.

摘要: A drive shaft includes a plurality of external crowned spline teeth configured for transmitting torque in a drive system such that contact stress can remain substantially even as misalignments occur. The drive shaft can be manufactured by forming a groove in a drive shaft blank in a direction perpendicular to the side faces of the spline teeth being formed. The resulting spline teeth can have crowned side-wall surfaces that have equal crown drops along the height of the side walls of the spline teeth.

摘要: A working end of a rotary shaft extends through a bearing supported at a distal end of a cantilever housing, the shaft's working end being subjected to transverse loading. The bending stiffness of the system is matched so that the angular deflection of the shaft and supporting cantilever housing are coordinated to minimize angular misalignment at the bearing. A cantilever system provides for apparatus and methodology demonstrating arrangements characterized by an operational ease for submersion of the working end in a fluid and ease of access to the bearing. Mitigation of misalignment enables the use of radial bearings.

摘要: A shaft balancing device for insertion into a shaft including a generally flat cylindrical band having an outer surface, an inner surface and a set of two crush points thereon. A balancing weight is attached to the outer surface of the band between the set of crush points. The device is inserted into the shaft and the crush points are plastically deformed radially outward creating spring force which holds the balancing weight to the inner surface of the shaft. The band has a curved connecting portion between the two crush points having a radius of curvature slightly greater than the curvature of the shaft. The balancing weight has a radius of curvature slightly greater than the radius of curvature of the curved connecting portion and slightly less than the radius of curvature of the shaft.
