A fibrous insulation blanket is pre-cut for custom fitting the insulation blanket into structural framework building cavities of different widths. The width of the blanket is substantially equal to the width of a standard cavity to be insulated by the blanket and the blanket has one or more longitudinally extending cuts in a first major surface of the blanket. The cut(s) have a depth greater than one half of the thickness of the blanket and less than the thickness of the blanket whereby the blanket can be handled as a unit for insulating a cavity having a standard cavity width or easily torn apart at a cut by hand for insulating a cavity having less than a standard cavity width. The second major surface of the blanket may have a facing bonded thereto with one or more perforated lines in the facing aligned with the cut(s) to facilitate tearing apart the blanket by hand if required. Preferably, the perforations of the perforated line(s) are closed by the bonding agent bonding the facing to the blanket so that the facing functions as a vapor barrier in spite of the perforations.

The present invention is directed to a cold seal package that includes constructions wherein two substrates, or two portions of one substrate, are sealingly engaged to one another using a substantially natural latex rubber-free contact adhesive. The two substrates can be easily peeled apart without substantial damage to the substrates. Furthermore, the substrates cannot typically be resealed, or refastened, once peeled apart. That is, the cold seal formed by the adhesive between the substrates is substantially non-refastenable. Advantageously, a cold seal package of the present invention is particularly well suited for aseptic delivery of packaged goods, such as bandages, dressings, and the like.

A low-profile faceplate assembly for a two-piece ostomy appliance, and a method for manufacturing it, are disclosed. The faceplate includes a wafer of an adhesive skin barrier material and a flexible plastic coupling ring (for detachably coupling the faceplate to an ostomy pouch having a mating ring), and is distinguished by the mounting flange of the coupling ring being embedded within the faceplate. The faceplate is made by a convergence of in-line processes taking place simultaneously with an injection/compression molding operation for the skin barrier wafer as disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 5,716,475, thereby eliminating or greatly reducing the assembly labor for the various process steps plus the handling, storing and transferring steps commonly associated with the manufacture of ostomy faceplate assemblies.

According to the present invention, a laminar wrapping paper is provided comprising first and second paper layers or laminae. Each lamina has an inside surface coated with a barrier coating. The layers are laminated by heat lamination, wherein the barrier coatings are melted together, or by providing an adhesive between the coated inside surfaces. The lamination may be accomplished in a selective or discontinuous manner in order to form air pockets within the laminar structure to increase the insulation characteristics of the wrapping paper. A plasticizer is applied to the outside surface of the first lamina. Graphic designs or lettering may be printed on the outside surface to identify the wrapped product or for purposes of decoration. The present invention is also directed at a process and apparatus for manufacturing the laminar wrapping paper described herein. First and second webs of paper are unrolled and passed through coating apparatus to coat one side of each web with a barrier coating. An adhesive is applied to one of the coated sides of the webs to laminate the webs together, or alternatively heat lamination is performed using a hot roll. A plasticizer is then applied to the outer side of the first web.

A process for preparing a lap seam for roofing comprising applying a butyl rubber-containing primer with a mesh pad to the EPDM membrane surfaces to be joined. The primer is applied with a long-handled applicator to permit the roofer to stand during priming. Thereafter a splice tape is positioned between the primed surfaces to form a seam structure and pressure is applied to the structure thus provided to form an adhesively-held lap seam characterized by being watertight and having superior peel strength when compared to other methods of making seam tapes.
