    Abstract: A vision display system for a vehicle includes a rear backup camera, a driver side camera, a passenger side camera, a front camera, and a display system including a video display screen. Rear backup video images derived from image data captured by the rear backup camera may be displayed by the video display screen for no more than ten seconds after shifting of the vehicle transmission of the vehicle out of reverse gear. Upon the engine of the vehicle being first started after initial ignition on of the vehicle, priority may be given to display by the video display screen of rear backup video images. Within two seconds after shifting of the vehicle transmission of the vehicle into reverse gear, rear backup video images may be displayed by the video display screen.

    Abstract: A vision display system for a vehicle includes a rear backup camera and display device that includes a video display screen. Upon an engine of the vehicle being started after initial ignition on of the vehicle, initialization of the display device is delayed or overridden upon shifting the vehicle transmission into reverse gear to commence a reversing maneuver in order to give priority to display by the video display screen of video images derived from image data captured by the rear backup camera during that reversing maneuver. Within two seconds of that shifting of the vehicle transmission of the vehicle into reverse gear, the display device displays on the video display screen video images derived from image data captured by the rear backup camera. The video images may be displayed for no more than 10 seconds after the vehicle transmission is shifted out of reverse gear.

    Abstract: A forward facing sensing system for a vehicle includes a radar sensor device disposed within the vehicle and having a sensing direction forward of the vehicle. An image sensor is disposed behind and views through the vehicle windshield. A control includes an image processor that analyzes captured image data to, at least in part, detect a pedestrian present exterior of the vehicle in its direction of forward travel. The control, responsive at least in part to processing of captured image data and to sensing by the radar sensor, determines that a potentially hazardous condition may exist in the vehicle's path of forward travel. The radar sensor device and the image sensor collaborate in a way that enhances determination of existence of the potentially hazardous condition in the vehicle's path of forward travel. The control at least in part controls an adaptive cruise control system of the vehicle.

    Abstract: An accessory system for a vehicle includes a mounting element attached at an inner surface of a windshield of the vehicle, with the mounting element adapted for mounting of an accessory module thereto and demounting of the accessory module therefrom. The accessory module includes a camera, and electrical circuitry associated with the camera is disposed within the accessory module. The accessory module includes a portion that faces towards the windshield when the accessory module is mounted to the mounting element attached at the windshield. The portion includes wall structure, and the lens of the camera protrudes through the wall structure to exterior of the accessory module. The accessory module and mounting element are configured so that, with the accessory module mounted to the mounting element, the lens is facing towards the windshield and the camera has a field of view appropriate for a driver assistance system of the vehicle.
