Abstract:
A method and a computer readable medium for reducing distractions of a mobile device user include determining, if a mobile device is moving; and if the mobile device is moving, then selecting a message for notifying a caller that a called party is unavailable. Determining is done from the viewpoints of a mobile device and a mobile service provider. Preferably, determining if the mobile device is moving includes checking with a GPS system if coordinates are changing within a given limit. The mobile device includes a controller; a detector coupled to the controller for detecting if the mobile device is moving in a given region; and means for selecting a message for notifying a caller that a called party is unavailable. In one embodiment, the detector is a GPS receiver.
Abstract:
A housing assembly for a communication device including front and rear housings and an endoskeleton adapted to be secured to the front housing via recesses locate on the endoskeleton and corresponding ribs located on the front housing. The front and rear housings include a cantilever arm and loop assembly to secure the top ends of the front and rear housings to each other. The rear housing includes a pair of hooks located at its bottom end and the second housing includes a pair of latches located at its bottom end. The hooks each have a contact surface adapted to mate with a corresponding contact surface on each latch. The contact surface on each hook are outwardly sloped and the contact surface on each latch is inwardly and downwardly sloped. The contact surface slopes cause the hooks to deflect inwardly when the latches are snapped into the hooks.
Abstract:
An object selection apparatus (100) has a geo-location processor (108) that determines the location of a device (120) at the time of an input by a user. The object selection apparatus (100) also has a bearing determination processor (104) that determines a bearing from the device (120) at the time of the user input. The object selection apparatus (100) also has a geo-content retrieval system (118) that retries information that relates to a set of objects that correspond to the location and bearing of the device (120) that was determined at the time of the input.
Abstract:
Tunneling piezoelectric switch structures including high quality epitaxial layers of monocrystalline materials (26) grown overlying monocrystalline substrates (22) such as large silicon wafers are disclosed. The structures includes an accommodating buffer layer (24) spaced apart from a silicon wafer by an amorphous interface layer (28) of silicon oxide. The amorphous interface layer dissipates strain and permits the growth of a high quality monocrystalline oxide accommodating buffer layer.
Abstract:
A system, device and method for assisting navigation are disclosed. The system comprises at least one positioning support device and a personal portable wireless user device. The positioning support device is operable to be placed near a navigation feature and to communicate appropriate navigational information, including absolute position and relative position with respect to a navigational feature. The user device is operable to receive the navigational information and communicate it to a user. The method operates to permit users to independently navigate local, overland or underwater areas and is especially useful for persons who whose vision may be impaired.
Abstract:
A wireless communication device 100, peripheral accessories 104, 108, and corresponding methods are arranged and constructed to automatically operate the peripheral accessories 104, 108 by communicating network information to the wireless communication device so the device may locate and download, via a network 116, operating programs for use with the accessories.
Abstract:
An audible command can be utilized to both permit identification of the speaker and to permit subsequent actions that comprise a corresponding response to the audible command when the identity of the speaker correlates with that of a previously authorized individual. Such identification can be supplemented with other identification mechanisms. Hierarchical levels of permission can be utilized, with or without confidence level thresholds, to further protect the device against unauthorized access and/or manipulation.
Abstract:
A system and method for providing a highly efficient linear transmitter compatible with a radio capable of operating in one of several modes. In a normal mode of operation, the radio frequency power amplifier (RFPA) runs in envelope tracking mode. Accordingly, the RFPA supply voltage follows the envelope of the linear modulation. In an alternate mode of operation, the supply modulator is locked to a fixed DC voltage. A high efficiency level is maintained in both the normal mode and the alternate mode by using a single agile DC-DC converter to supply the RFPA. The converter input voltage is switched depending on the mode of operation.
Abstract:
A semiconductor device (121) is provided which comprises a substrate and a die (123) having a first surface which is attached to the substrate by way of a die attach material. At least a portion (127) of the perimeter of the die is resistant to wetting by the die attach material, either through treatment with a dewetting agent or by selective removal of the backside metallization. It is found that this construction allows the surface area of the die to be increased without increasing the incidence of cracking and chipping along the sawn edges of the die.
Abstract:
A structure and method for achieving a flip-chip semiconductor device having plated copper inductors (4), transformers (16), interconnect, and power busing that is electrically superior, lower cost, and provides for higher quality inductors as well as lower losses for on-chip transformers. Providing a solder dam (8, 24, 28) enables the fabrication of flip-chip solder bumps directly on to inductors and transformers.
