Abstract: An occupant detection system for determining a unique position of a detected presence within an interior cabin area of a vehicle includes a plurality of signal conversion devices each including conversion circuitry. Each of the plurality of signal conversion devices are assigned to a specific position within the interior cabin area of the vehicle. The conversion circuitry for the plurality of signal conversion devices include unique sub-carrier frequency that corresponds to the unique position within the interior cabin area of the vehicle. The occupant detection system includes a wireless control module including a multi-band transceiver having a first transceiver configured to transmit and receive signals on a first frequency band and a second transceiver configured to transmit and receive signals on a second frequency band.

Abstract: An automated driving system (ADS) of an autonomous vehicle includes a communication module, a misbehavior detection module, and a processor. The communication module is configured to receive a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) message including source vehicle data and receive a fusion data message including fusion data from a mobile edge computing (MEC) system including a roadside unit (RSU). The source vehicle data includes a source vehicle location. The fusion data is based on RSU sensed data and on vehicle sensed data received at the RSU from at least one vehicle. The misbehavior detection module is configured to determine whether a source vehicle is disposed at the source vehicle location based on the fusion data. The processor is configured to manage performance of the autonomous vehicle in accordance with the source vehicle data based at least in part on the determination. Abstract: A system for an autonomous vehicle that predicts a location-based maneuver of a remote vehicle located in a surrounding environment includes one or more vehicle sensors collecting sensory data indicative of one or more vehicles located in the surrounding environment. The system also includes one or more automated driving controllers in electronic communication with the one or more vehicle sensors. The one or more automated driving controllers execute instructions to compare a lane of travel of the remote vehicle with a current lane of travel of the autonomous vehicle. In response to determining the lane of travel of the remote vehicle is a different lane than the current lane of the autonomous vehicle, the one or more automated driving controllers predict the location-based maneuver of the remote vehicle based on aggregated vehicle metrics that are based on historical data collected at the specific geographical location.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for controlling a lateral position of a vehicle through an intersection. The method includes receiving, by a processor, intersection data transmitted by an infrastructure associated with the intersection, the intersection data including at least a position of a plurality of lanes associated with the intersection. The method includes receiving, by the processor, a position of the vehicle, and determining, by the processor, a current lane of travel of the vehicle and a future lane of travel of the vehicle based on the intersection data and the position of the vehicle. The method includes determining, by the processor, a virtual lane through the intersection, the virtual lane providing a path of travel for the vehicle from the current lane of travel to the future lane of travel. The method includes controlling, by the processor, the vehicle based on the virtual lane.

Abstract: A method of hitching a tow vehicle to a trailer includes determining a distance between a coupler on the trailer and a hitch on the tow vehicle. A video of the coupler on the trailer is captured with the rearview camera, and displayed on a display screen of the tow vehicle. The tailgate and the rearview camera are positioned in a generally upright first position when the determined distance between the coupler on the trailer and the hitch on the tow vehicle is greater than a predefined distance. The tailgate and the rearview camera are positioned in a partially lowered second position when the determined distance between the coupler on the trailer and the hitch on the tow vehicle is equal to or less than the predefined distance to provide a better perspective of the hitch and coupler.

Abstract: A host vehicle includes a combustion engine configured to provide a propulsion torque to satisfy a propulsion demand. The vehicle also includes at least one sensor configured to detect a position of a reference vehicle. A vehicle controller is programmed to determine a path between a current host vehicle location and an upcoming intersection. The controller is also programmed to forecast a path clearance time at which the host vehicle is able to traverse the intersection in response to sensor data indicating the reference vehicle moving within the path ahead of the host vehicle. The controller is further programmed to deactivate the engine prior to a host vehicle stop based on the path clearance time being greater than a time threshold.

Abstract: A system and method to distinguish between a lane change and a turn of a vehicle as an intended movement of the vehicle based on a driver-initiated motion toward an adjacent lane that is adjacent to a lane occupied by the vehicle include obtaining input from one or more sources. The method also includes processing the input from the one or more sources to obtain indirect information that indicates a direction of travel in the lane adjacent or to obtain direct information specific to a location of the vehicle, determining whether the lane change or the turn is more likely to be the intended movement based on the indirect information or the direct information, and modifying an action of a vehicle system based on the determining whether the lane change or the turn is more likely.
