Abstract: Liquid transfer devices with an integral telescopic vial adapter for use with an infusion liquid container and an initially non-punctured intact discrete injection vial. The integral telescopic vial adapter is configured for initial telescopic snap mounting on a discrete injection vial leaving its injection vial stopper non-punctured until a subsequent compaction for puncturing the injection vial stopper. The integral telescopic vial adapter includes a safety catch mechanism for precluding advertent compaction from a pre-compacted state to a compacted state. The integral telescopic vial adapter includes a clamping arrangement for irreversibly clamping same in its final compacted state.

Abstract: A drug mixing unit for a syringe is disclosed. The drug mixing unit contains a barrel member having a first flow path through which a liquid drug is to be pushed in; and a plug member having an insertion part inserted into the barrel member, the insertion part having a second flow path, for drawing out a drug mixture, formed on inner side thereof and a through hole, connected to the second flow path, formed on one surface thereof, wherein the plug member is connected to the barrel member to form a predetermined drug mixing space, the drug mixing space has a drug to be mixed with the liquid drug that has been pushed in through the first flow path. The unit also contain a third flow path, through which the drug mixture flows from the drug mixing space to the through hole.

Abstract: A vial assembly includes a vial and a needle with at least one port. The vial includes a particulate material, a septum, a neck region including a first width, and a particulate region including a second width greater than the first width. The vial assembly is configured to move to a locked position. The needle may be configured to puncture the septum with the at least one port configured to be in the neck region when in the locked position. The at least one port may be configured to inject a fluid into the vial assembly to mix with the particulate material upon actuation of a vial engagement mechanism in a first direction and to receive a resulting mixed fluid from the vial assembly upon actuation of the vial engagement mechanism in a second direction opposite the first direction.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a housing coupled to a medicament container, which is coupled to a needle. An injection assembly is disposed within the housing and includes an energy storage member and an actuation rod. A distal end portion of the actuation rod is disposed within the medicament container. The energy storage member can produce a force on a proximal end portion of the actuation rod sufficient to move the distal end portion of the actuation rod within the medicament container. This can convey at least a portion of a substance from the medicament container via the needle when a distal tip of the needle is disposed within a first region of a target location. The force is insufficient to move the distal end portion of the actuation rod within the medicament container when the distal tip of the needle is disposed within a second region of the target location.

Abstract: A filling aid for self-filling a cartridge from a storage vessel is disclosed. The filling aid has a housing that receives a fillable cartridge. A stopper is provided that interacts with the housing and is configured to enter the cartridge and a cannula is provided that is configured to pierce a septum of the cartridge. The housing is movable from an initial position in which the stopper is maintained outside the cartridge to an activated position in which the stopper is inserted in the cartridge and the septum is pierced by the cannula. Methods of manufacturing and using the filling aid are also disclosed.

Abstract: A fluid transfer assembly, drug container, and method for enabling fluid transfer in an infusion system is taught. The assembly includes a fluid container containing an infusion fluid, and a drug container. The fluid container has at least one inlet port for receiving a medical substance from the drug container. The assembly further includes at least one fluid barrier controlling fluid passage between the drug container and the fluid container. The inlet port exhibits a first luer-lock connector, and the drug a container is sealed by a cap exhibiting a second luer-lock connector for attachment to the first luer-lock connector. The fluid barrier is designed and arranged to be ruptured by an external force to allow the fluid passage.
