Abstract:
A portable telephone maintenance service system and maintenance service method for backup control of a portable telephone set, to make it possible to prevent misuse by third persons and to perform data restoration service. A maintenance service center is connected to an exchange network and by a backup control request, that includes the portable telephone number and a code number from the person who lost the portable telephone set, dialing is done from the maintenance service center to the lost portable telephone set. Memory dial data, mail address data, and other data from the memory of the portable telephone set is saved to backup memory and the data in the memory of the portable telephone set is erased. Upon a backup control request when the portable telephone set is recovered, data is downloaded from the backup memory to the memory of the portable telephone set.
Abstract:
A method of providing caller identification information to a voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) telephone device is disclosed and includes receiving an incoming telephone call. The method also includes determining a destination VoIP telephone device associated with the incoming call. Further, the method includes populating a caller identification portal with a plurality of identification characteristics from a caller profile and presenting the caller identification portal to a display of the destination VoIP telephone device. The caller identification portal can include a first mode in which a partial caller identification portal is presented and a second mode in which a full caller identification portal is presented.
Abstract:
A self-learning and/or self-adjusting communication controller and/or optimizer uses operational data collected from a communication system to adjust operation of the communication system to changing operational, environmental, etc. conditions and, in some embodiments, to customize operation of the communication system's lines and components so that their performance can be controlled, improved and/or optimized. In various embodiments, operational parameters and/or rules are established and/or adjusted based on information obtained from the system concerning the system's operation; information regarding margins used by a DSL system and code violation counts reported by the DSL system are used to set margin levels for one or more line sets (each line set including an individual line, a group of lines, a binder, etc.) and/or other users and/or components of the DSL system; and, the controller and/or optimizer forces a small number of test lines into as yet unexperienced and/or unimplemented operational conditions so that new knowledge can be obtained.
Abstract:
Systems and methods provide foreign call back number compatibility. The systems and methods receive a local telephone number assigned to a subscriber, the subscriber having a non-local telephone number as the normal calling number of the subscriber. Furthermore, the systems and methods query a database with the local telephone number to obtain the non-local telephone number and to provide the non-local telephone number. In addition, systems and methods provide a foreign call back number compatibility database. The systems and methods receive a local telephone number assigned to a subscriber and a non-local telephone number comprising the normal calling number of the subscriber and saving the local number and the non-local number to a database.
Abstract:
In recent times, communications service providers have been able to offer large business enterprises the ability to share call center operation among multiple geographically dispersed call centers. In particular, network-resident call handling technologies have been developed for performing some of the handling and queuing of each inbound call within the communications network, that is, before the call is forwarded to an ACD at a particular call center. However, by outsourcing a portion of the call center operations to a network-based call routing system, the call centers are no longer able to maintain direct control over, and are generally unable to directly access information, such as statistics, about the calls in the network or other call centers. Accordingly, an interface is provided that allows an entity to obtain information about calls within the network or other call center(s).

Abstract:
The invention relates a method for telephoning, wherein a telephone connection is established between at least two telephones under control of a web site.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for obtaining contact-related information associated with a party using an identifier. The identifier may include a calling party number, a previously-dialed number, and/or a number specified by a user. The identifier could also include an e-mail address, an instant messenger address, a photograph, etc. A request for contact-related information may be initiated by a user and/or a device associated with the user. The request may include an identifier associated with a party. Methods and systems may retrieve contact-related information associated with the party using the identifier. Methods and systems may leverage one or more networks to retrieve the contact-related information. Contact information may be retrieved in order to add a contact to a user's address book.
Abstract:
A telephone number memory circuit is provided in which data for determining the display of a call on a selected one of call receiving modules depending on the telephone number of a caller is stored. As the call is received from the service network, the telephone number of a caller is detected by a telephone number detecting circuit and transferred to a control module. The control module compares the detected telephone number with the data saved in the telephone number memory circuit to determine the display of the call on the selected one of a call display of a master unit, a call display of a first sub unit, and a call display of a second sub unit and directs the selected call display to indicate that the call is received. In a telephone system including a number of telephone terminals, a calling apparatus directs a selected one of the telephone terminals to display the call depending on the telephone number of a caller.
Abstract:
A stored program controlled switching system is comprised of a first set of detachably mounted nonvolatile semiconductor memory devices such as memory cards for respectively storing data of different types including a control program, a second set of detachably mounted nonvolatile semiconductor memory devices for respectively storing the data of different types. A first controller is provided for operating the first set of memory devices in a working mode and the second set of memory devices in a standby mode, copying data from the memory devices of the working mode into a main memory and further into the memory devices of the standby mode, and performing a switchover between the operating modes when trouble occurs in the first set of memory devices. A second controller operates the switching system according to the data stored in the main memory.
