摘要: Embodiments of the present invention provide intuitive, easily used, and efficient visual representation of positions of interest to a user within a sequentially ordered information encoding. In particular, various embodiments of the present invention provide a heat-map-like representation of the relatedness, at each location or position within a sequentially ordered information encoding, of the contents of the information encoding at or near the position to a specified search criterion. The heat-map visual representation allows a user to identify positions of particular interest, with respect to the specified search criterion, and to directly access the information at those positions, allowing the user to avoid time-consuming and inefficient hit-or-miss searching techniques.

摘要: A kit for use in a procedure for implantation of an orthopaedic joint prosthesis includes a head component of an orthopaedic joint prosthesis, which comprises a body part having a convex bearing surface, and a reverse face at which the head component can be connected to a mating component of the joint prosthesis, in which the head component has a chamfer surface extending around at least part of its periphery where the bearing and reverse faces come together, and a plurality of markings on the chamfer surface. The kit includes a trial head component which comprises a body part having a convex trial bearing surface and a reverse face, in which the trial head component has a plurality of markings on the trial bearing surface at or towards the interface between it and the reverse face. The transverse dimensions of the head component are approximately the same as the transverse dimensions of the trial head component, and in which the location of the markings on the chamfer surface around the periphery of the head component corresponds to the location of the markings on the trial bearing surface of the trial head component around its periphery.

摘要: A method for degassing a fluid includes providing a degassing system having a degassing module and a fluid pump apparatus having a fluid reservoir, wherein the fluid pump apparatus is operated in a discontinuous mode involving one or more discrete pumping cycles having a first cycle time. The fluid pump apparatus is calibrated to deliver a predetermined volume of the fluid from the fluid reservoir during each of the pumping cycles, and the degassing module is adapted to operably move gas from the fluid to an extent sufficient to render the fluid volume to a desired degassed condition within a period of time that is not greater than the first cycle time.

摘要: An assembly for use in a hip joint replacement procedure which comprises a stem part for location in the intramedullary cavity of a femur, having a tapered spigot at one end, and a head part having a bearing surface defined by a part of a sphere, and a tapered bore formed in it in which the spigot is a snug fit so that the tapered surfaces of the spigot and the socket are in surface to surface contact. The distance from (i) the point on the tapered surface of the spigot at or towards its free end at which the tapered surface thereof no longer contacts the tapered surface of the bore, to (ii) the centre of the sphere which is defined by the bearing surface measured from the said point on the spigot parallel to the axis of the spigot towards the intramedullary cavity, when the spigot is received in the bore in the head part, is at least about 5 mm, with the said point on the tapered surface of the spigot being located between the centre of the sphere and the bearing surface of the head part.

摘要: A fluid analysis apparatus for containing and analyzing a fluid sample includes a cell body assembly having a plurality of distinct portions in fluid communication with one another and with the distinct portions being hydraulically sealed to one another through the use of one or more resilient gaskets interposed between adjacent ones of the plurality of distinct portions of the cell body assembly. The one or more resilient gaskets enable both hydraulic sealing of adjacent distinct portions, as well as fluid coupling and routing through the fluid analysis apparatus.

摘要: A method for controlling pervaporation through a membrane includes assessing the vapor pressure of each component material of a mobile phase disposed on a retentate side of the membrane, and maintaining a designed environment on a permeate side of the membrane. The environment maintained on the permeate side of the membrane contains partial pressures of selected component materials of the mobile phase at a level substantially equal to or greater than the respective vapor pressures thereof.

摘要: A method for treating organic matter in a liquid includes transporting the liquid through a gas-permeable, liquid-impermeable conveyance member and exposing the liquid to an organic matter treatment agent while the liquid is disposed in the conveyance member. The method further includes removing one or more product gases from the liquid through a wall of the conveyance member, with the one or more product gases being disposed in the liquid as a consequence of the treatment of the organic matter by the treatment agent.

摘要: A filter apparatus for use in liquid chromatography systems includes a housing component having an open channel formed therethrough for operably receiving fluid transfer tubing in at least a first end thereof, a relatively thin mesh filter component, and a securement component configured to matingly engage with the housing such that the filter component is operably disposed and secured between the housing and the securement component adjacent to and superimposed over a second open end of the channel. The filter apparatus is thus adapted to operably filter chromatographic fluids being drawn through the channels from the second open end and into the fluid transfer tubing.
