摘要: An optical branch device, comprising: a branch portion having a first branch waveguide extended linearly and continuously from a waveguide in a basis portion, and second and third branch waveguides extended in the directions farther from the first branch waveguide in such a manner that the first branch waveguide is interposed between the second and third branch waveguides; a parallel portion in which the second and third branch waveguides are positioned in parallel to the first branch waveguide; and a divergent portion in which the second and third branch waveguides are extended gradually farther from the first branch waveguide; wherein the interval pitch P (μm), in the transverse direction, between the first, second and third branch waveguides in the parallel portion and the refractive index difference (Δn) between the core and the clad are set in such a manner that C satisfies a relationship of C=0.5±0.2 wherein C is calculated by substituting P and Δn for an equation of C=Δn×P2.

摘要: A pre-curing viscous solution (precursor solution) is applied to the back surface of a substrate for forming an optically transparent layer principally composed of an inorganic material. The substrate is heated or irradiated with UV light while being pressed with unevenness of a mold. By removing the substrate from the mold, the optically transparent, inorganic material layer principally composed of the inorganic material is formed on the substrate. In this manner, the inorganic material layer with the unevenness is formed on the back surface of the substrate (a light extraction surface) by embossing.

摘要: A hard carbon thin film formed on a substrate has a graded structure in which a ratio of sp2 to sp3 carbon-carbon bonding in the thin film decreases in its thickness direction from a thin film/substrate interface toward a surface of the thin film. A method of forming the thin film involves varying the film-forming ion species over time to produce the composition gradient or structural gradient in the thickness direction of the thin film.

摘要: A method for controlling the air-fuel ratio in a carburetor which prevents fuel from flowing into an air bleed passage at nearly fully closed position of the tapered needle valve fitted with the air bleed passage by controlling the step motor connected to the needle valve so as to maintain the minimum amount of bleed air at a constant level. In another aspect, at nearly fully closed position of the needle valve, this invention is effective to prevent fuel from flowing into the air bleed passage by continously driving the step motor in a direction of its fully closed position to axially vibrate the needle valve so that the minimum amount of bleed air may be maintained at a constant level. In a further aspect, at nearly fully closed position of the needle valve, this invention is effective to determine the relation between the amount of stroke of the needle valve and the amount of bleed air to flat characteristics by continuously driving the step motor in a direction of the fully closed position of the needle valve so that the minimum amount of bleed air may be maintained at such a level that the fuel is prevented from flowing into the air bleed passage.
