A communication apparatus for communicating with another apparatus via a network, includes: a storage unit for storing identification information of a plurality of networks and areas where the networks are deployed, respectively, and information of time periods while communication over the networks is permissible for the communication apparatus, respectively; a processor to control communication with the another apparatus in accordance with a process including: selecting one of the networks which is currently connectable and available to communicate with the another apparatus on the basis of the identification information of the networks and the areas; determining whether the present time is within one of the time periods; and either inhibiting communication with the another apparatus via the selected network when the present time is not within the period of time, or allowing communication with the another apparatus via the selected network when the present time is within the period of time.

An optical characteristic measuring apparatus includes: a light source section which sweeps wavelengths of a first input light and a second input light respectively, frequencies of the first and second input lights being different from each other and polarized states of the first and second input lights being perpendicular to each other, and outputs the first and second input light; an interference section which inputs one branched light of the first and second input lights to a measuring object, makes output light from the measuring object interfere with other branched light of the first and second input lights, and outputs a plurality of interference lights; a plurality of light receiving sections which are respectively provided for the interference lights, receives the interference lights respectively, and outputs signals in accordance with optical powers of the interference lights respectively; and a low-pass filter for filtering the outputted signals.

According to the present invention, there are provided a thermoplastic elastomer composition which includes (A1) an ethylene•α-olefin-based copolymer or (X) an oil-extended rubber, (B) a crystalline polyethylene type resin, (C) a first hydrogenated block copolymer, and (D) a second hydrogenated block copolymer, and may further includes (E1) a mineral oil type softening agent; and a molded article thereof. The thermoplastic elastomer composition and the molded article are superior in rubber elasticity (compression set), mechanical strength and moldability and, when containing a mineral oil type softening agent, is low in oil bleeding.

A system realize power saving of a portable information processing unit including an external device, when the external unit receiving the power supplied from the portable information processing unit is connected to the portable information processing unit. An operation mode according to the power supply state of the external unit is set into the portable information processing unit, and the external device is informed of the set operation mode, according to the power supply state. When data processing is in execution also in the external device upon request from the portable information processing unit, even when the operation mode change information is received, the mode change is awaited until the completion of the processing of the external device. Thus, by changing the operation mode, low-power consumption operation including the external device can be realized without impeding the operation in the external device.

A wavelength monitor 10 having a Michelson interferometer (or Mach-Zehnder) optical system 11 of a spatial light type having optical input from a light source has an interference pattern generating means 12 which inclines the wavefronts of interfering beams of collimated light to generate an interference pattern in the light intensity distribution in an interference light beam planes a first slit 107 and a second slit 108 which are adjustable in position and provided in front of a first photo-detector 109 and a second photo-detector, respectively, which receive split beams of interference light, and a signal processing means 111 by which the changes in the intensity of light from the first photo-detector 109 and the second photo-detector 110 are counted and subjected to necessary arithmetic operations to output signals representing wavelength data for the input light.

There are provided 2-aminopurine derivatives represented by the following general formula (1): where R represents any species selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and acyl groups, X represents any species selected from the group consisting of phosphoramidite and oligonucleotides, Y represents any species selected from the group consisting of dimethyltrityl groups and oligonucleotides, and Z1, Z2, Z3, Z4 and Z5 are the same or different and represent any species selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and hydroxyl, amino, lower alkyl, alkoxy, carboxyl and sulfonic acid groups, provided that Z1, Z2, Z3, Z4 and Z5 are not all hydrogen, as well as gene expression-regulating compositions characterized by comprising the derivatives. By introducing the 2-aminopurine derivatives into oligonucleotides it is possible to achieve crosslinking reaction with high reactivity for target nucleic acids and notably high base sequence specificity.

The present invention relates to a thermoplastic elastomer composition having a three-dimensional network structure which is not formed by a chemical crosslinking and having an excellent elasticity recovery and flexibility, a foam having a highly closed cell, an uniform cell shape, an excellent elasticity recovery, flexibility and appearance, and a process for producing the same. A thermoplastic elastomer of the invention is obtained by mixing in a predetermined ratio an EPDM (1), a crystalline polyethylenic resin (2) and a block copolymer (3) having a crystalline ethylenic polymeric block and a block which is more compatible with said EPDM than with said crystalline polyethylenic resin together with an anti-aging agent followed by kneading in a pressurized kneader. A foam of the invention is obtained by adding 1 part by mass of a wetting agent to 100 parts by mass of the thermoplastic elastomer composition described above together with a foaming agent, agitating and then performing an extrusion foaming.

A cushion member is provided opposite to the resilient sheet and bridging between lateral sides of, and inside, the seat frame. The cushion member is deflectable, under the weight of a sitting person, along with the resilient sheet which mainly receives the weight of the sitting person on the seat.

An external cavity type wavelength-tunable light source including an optical amplifier on one end surface of which an antireflection film is coated, a diffraction grating arranged on an emission light axis of the optical amplifier on the side of the antireflection film and having wavelength selectivity, a reflector arranged on a reflection light axis of the diffraction grating, for reflecting a reflection light beam from the diffraction grating, and a wavelength tuning mechanism for tuning a wavelength of an lasing light beam by changing an angle of the reflector relative to the reflection light axis of the diffraction grating. The wavelength tuning mechanism includes a bimorph type piezo-electric element as a wavelength-tunable controlling unit for changing an angle of the reflector relative to the reflection light axis of the diffraction grating, and a wavelength-tunable driving circuit for controlling a voltage applied to the bimorph type piezo-electric element to tune the wavelength of the lasing light beam.
