A method for manufacturing an extrusion molding with a smooth surface. An apparatus having a die and a sizing equipment is supplied with a molding material of thermoplastic resin. A heat conducting member is disposed within a flow channel of the die, and its tapered distal end portion is penetrated into a shaping flow channel beyond an orifice of the die. The molding material in molten state is introduced through the orifice into the shaping flow channel, and a solidified extrusion molding having a predetermined cross-sectional shape is exhausted out of the sizing equipment. Heat is supplied from the heat conducting member to the molding material, so that a molten portion remains when the molding material passes the distal end portion. Surface of the molding material is pressed against an inner wall face of the shaping flow channel due to a pressing force of the molten portion.

The radial expansion produced on the mandrel (12) is partial so that the internal diameter (B) of the blank (E), when it leaves the mandrel, is less than the nominal internal diameter (D) of the finished tube, performing an additional radial expansion of the blank, up to its nominal diameter, by internal fluid pressure. An extruded, polystyrene-based resin foam plate produced by extruding a foamable molten composition containing a polystyrene-based resin and a blowing agent consisting of (a) isobutane and (b) a blowing agent component other than isobutane, chlorofluorocarbons and fluorocarbons from a high pressure zone into a lower pressure zone. The extruded foam plate has a thickness of at least 10 mm and an apparent density of 25-60 kg/m3 contains residual isobutane in an amount of 0.45-0.80 mol per 1 kg thereof, has cells having an average diameter in the thickness direction thereof of 0.05-0.18 mm and a cell strain rate of 0.7-1.2, wherein the cell strain rate is obtained by dividing the average diameter in the thickness direction of the extruded foam plate by the average diameter in the horizontal direction of the extruded foam plate, meets the flammability standard on extruded polystyrene foam insulation plates as defined in JIS A9511-1995, and has a thermal conductivity of not greater than 0.028 W/mnullK.

A method and an installation for producing a film made of a thermoplastic material, wherein the plastic material emerges from a blow head of an extruder while forming a film bubble. The film bubble is sized to a predetermined diameter by the action of a sizing device and is subsequently laid flat by a flattening device and is rolled up. To prevent damage to the surface of the film bubble, there is an electrostatic charge to the plastic material forming the film bubble prior to entry into the sizing device. The film bubble is conducted through a sizing device, which is electrostatically charged in the same way, to provide a contact-free sizing of the film bubble.

A mixture of one or more types of plastic materials is extruded in a partially plasticised condition so as to allow gases formed by the extrusion process to escape from the surface of the extrusion to create a simulated wood. Holes (9) formed in the surface of the extruded plastic material by escaping gases are elongated by passage of the extrusion through a finishing die (7) downstream of the extruder (5) to form a rough textured surface similar to sawn wood and the plastic material is set to retain the shape and configuration of the textured surface by cooling in a water bath (8) downstream of the finishing die (7).
