Abstract:
A braided in-situ consolidated structure of fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin strands is formed by braiding the strands on a mandrel and then advancing the mandrel and the braided structure as it is formed continuously through a heating zone to heat the resin to a flowable condition then cooling the structure as it leaves the zone. Pressure may be applied or developed against the braided structure during its formation.
Abstract:
A breathing circuit component includes an inlet, an outlet and an enclosing wall. The enclosing wall defines a gases passageway between the inlet and the outlet. At least a region of the enclosing wall is formed from a breathable material that allows the passage of water vapor without allowing the passage of liquid water or respiratory gases. The breathing circuit component may be the expiratory limb of a breathing circuit.
Abstract:
A transportable system and method for the in situ eccentric manufacturing of reinforced thermoplastic pipelines in continuous lengths up to 10 miles and from 8 to 60 inches in diameter having a rotating frame assembly with a eccentric spools for application of reinforcing tapes and other components to a polyolefin core pipe, and further having a forming machine for cross sectional shape reduction of the reinforced thermoplastic pipelines to facilitate pulling the reinforced thermoplastic pipelines inside a host pipeline. Also provided are continuous monitoring and marking with application of tape in the hoop stress direction and the axial stress direction as well as saturated tape feeding stations for impregnation of the reinforcing tape for in situ curing.
Abstract:
The embodiments are directed to a method and apparatus for preferably producing a two layer off-axis composite prepreg material in tape form that has fiber direction at angles such as plus or minus five degrees to the longitudinal direction of the backing paper. The use of such off-axis prepreg composite material tape is primarily for fabricating high length-to-width ration parts such as composite wing stringers or spars for aircraft.
Abstract:
A device for manufacturing an FC component with at least one distributing device for placing at least band-shaped material onto a surface of a tool mold or semi-finished product for manufacturing the FC component, wherein the device has at least one bogie truck that carries the distributing device and a guide way that runs around the surface at least partially in its circumferential direction, on which the bogie truck for traversing the distributing device can be moved relative to the surface, as well as a method for manufacturing a fiber composite component and a component fabricated according to such a method.
Abstract:
Armoring tape for wrapping around a hose during its fabrication by a hose-wrapping machine. The tape is coiled into a roll having a hollow core from which the tape is unwound to be wrapped onto the hose. The hose-wrapping machine rotatably mounts the roll with the hose passing through the roll core, the roll axis being skewed to the hose axis by the helix angle at which the tape is to be wrapped onto and along the hose The hose is moved longitudinally through the longitudinally static roll and at the same time, the roll is rotated around the longitudinal axis of the non-rotating hose The armouring tape unwinds from the inside of the roll onto and along the hose so as to wrap the hose with a uniform helix of armouring tape The use of a tape containing an elastomer-embedded array of armouring cables enables armouring wires and elastomer layers to be applied without a stabilising layer of fabric, and greatly simplifies setting-up of machinery for hose fabrication. The use of a tape roll which can be unwound from its inside enables hoses to be wrapped without having to orbit rolls that are very large and heavy.
Abstract:
A spool winding assembly for winding a composite strip onto a spool having a hub is disclosed. The strip includes an elongate plastic strip having a flat base portion and a plurality of laterally spaced apart lengthwise extending rib portions upstanding from the base portion; and a plurality of elongate reinforcing members extending lengthwise within respective rib portions, the rib portions and the reinforcing members forming composite ribs. The assembly includes: a main frame, a spool holder for rotatably supporting the spool relative to the main frame, a spool drive unit for driving the spool with respect to the main frame, a carriage mounted for lateral movement with respect to the spool, a bender mounted to the carriage for receiving the strip as it is fed towards the hub of the spool and for deforming the strip to give it a curved base portion, and a bender drive unit operably connected to the bender for driving the strip through the bender.
Abstract:
A method for the production of curved thread-reinforced tubular structures composed of rubber layers and of strengthening layers and an accompanying device. In one aspect, the method includes the application of a first rubber layer to the circumference of mandrels driven forward in a feed direction (X) and winding on of a multiplicity of parallel reinforcing threads, having defined thread angles (α) with respect to the feed axis (x), by means of a bobbin creel, to form a first thread ply. The mandrels are led through a rotating deflection element surrounding the mandrels and the reinforcing threads are guided so as to be distributed on the inner circumference. An application of a covering rubber layer may be performed (after the optionally multiple execution of the previous steps, alone or in combination). The mandrels are led through the deflection element of the bobbin creel eccentrically in the region of the deflection element.
Abstract:
A fiber reinforced plastic article is disclosed which include a liner, at least one single material fiber layer wound on the liner, and at least one composite fiber layer wound on the single material fiber layer. The at least one single material fiber layer and the at least one hybrid fiber layer are impregnated with resin.
