Abstract: There is disclosed a system for transmitting data to users. The system includes nodes interconnected by at least one data network. The nodes are organized hierarchically to comprise a root node and at least two child nodes. The data transmission characteristics of communication with each of the child nodes are different. The root node is configured to: receive data transmission preferences of a particular user; receive data to be transmitted to the particular user; and transmit a selected subset of the data to at least one of the child nodes. The subset selected based on at least the received data transmission preferences and the data transmission characteristics, to permit the particular user to obtain data from the child nodes according to the data transmission preferences. The at least one of the child nodes being configured to: receive data from the root node; and transmit at least part of the received data to the user.

Abstract: Described herein is a vehicle system configured to identify and mitigate a risk associated with one or more hazards that may impact a vehicle. The vehicle system may include a service provider computer configured to maintain information related to one or more hazards. In some embodiments, a hazard may be identified based at least in part on its being located within the vicinity of a vehicle. In some embodiments, the service provider computer may generate a mitigation strategy to reduce or eliminate the risk posed by the identified hazard. The mitigation strategy may include one or more actions to be taken by a processor device within the vehicle. Upon being provided with a mitigation strategy, the processor device may execute one or more of the actions in the mitigation strategy without human interaction.

Abstract: Traffic incident information may be clustered to determine geographical locations in which a statistically-increased level of traffic incidents occur. Indices indicative of vehicle operating conditions within the locations may be generated according to crowd-sourced event information factors and an index function including coefficients defining contributions of the factors to the indices. The coefficients may be optimized to minimize error between the index-predicted statistically-increased level areas and the clustered traffic incident information.

Abstract: A system for displaying speed information for a vehicle includes a speed measuring device configured to obtain an actual current speed, a display for displaying speed information to an operator, and a controller. The controller acquires a geographical location, obtains road data including a posted speed limit for the geographical location, and causes displaying a first graphical feature indicating the posted speed limit and a second graphical feature indicating the actual current speed. For example, the first graphical feature is in the form of a ring, while the second graphical feature is a circle centered within the first graphical feature. A size of the second graphical feature corresponds to the actual current speed and dynamically changes with the change of the actual current speed. Thus, the size of second graphical feature increases with the increase of actual current speed and decreases with the decrease of actual current speed.

Abstract: A system for use in a vehicle, the system comprising one or more sensors, one or more processors coupled to the one or more sensors, and a memory including instructions that cause the one or more processors to perform a method. The method comprises retrieving a stored route for the vehicle that comprises a plurality of waypoints corresponding to different locations along the route, each waypoint associated with features along the route on a feature map, and navigating the vehicle along the stored route by navigating the vehicle from waypoint to waypoint in the stored route using the one or more sensors to: detect one or more features in an area surrounding the vehicle; and localize the vehicle at each waypoint by comparing the one or more features in the area surrounding the vehicle with the one or more features associated with each respective waypoint in the feature map.

Abstract: A method for enforcing traffic signal compliance includes acquiring a series of temporal related image frames including a target area. Each image frame includes pixel data representative of the target area. The method includes generating one or more motion vectors between two or more of the image frames. The motion vectors are the type produced by compressing the pixel data associated with the two or more image frames. The method includes associating a cluster of motion vectors with a vehicle. The method further includes tracking a position of the vehicle across the two or more image frames. Using the tracking results, the method includes determining whether the vehicle stops in the target area. For the vehicle being determined as not stopping, the method includes signaling an occurrence of noncompliance.

Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to generating emergency vehicle warnings, alternate vehicle routing recommendations and/or insurance-related data based upon emergency vehicle warning data. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to generating data representative of emergency vehicle warnings and/or alternate routing based upon real-time information related to an emergency vehicle. The information related to the emergency vehicle may include emergency vehicle origination location data, emergency vehicle current location data, emergency vehicle route data, and/or emergency vehicle destination location data. An emergency vehicle warning and/or alternate vehicle routing for non-emergency response vehicles may be generated based further on information related to a non-emergency vehicle. In one aspect, an emergency vehicle may wirelessly communicate with the non-emergency vehicle and/or an insurance provider remote server. The insurance provider may adjust auto insurance for insureds having vehicles with the vehicle safety functionality discussed herein to reflect lower risk and provide insurance savings to customers.
